Greetings, District 2!
The holiday season is here! I hope you enjoy time with loved ones and take some time to digest the latest Dallas ISD news:
Dallas ISD District 2 Monthly Updates:
Applications for Specialty Schools and Programs Open: Explore the diverse range of unique educational choices available to our students. If you or someone you know is interested in applying for a specialized program in Dallas ISD – such as a magnet or choice school or program – you can start the process today!
Dallas ISD Elementary and Middle Schools Ranked Nationally: This month, the US News and World Report released its rankings for top Elementary and Middle schools in the nation and more than 108 Dallas ISD schools were in the Top 40%, with many in the top 10% as well!
Career Institutes Providing Preparation for High Demand Careers: As featured in the Dallas Morning News, Dallas ISD students choosing this pathway take core classes at their chosen comprehensive high school while selecting high-wage, high-demand, high-skill career certification programs of study as electives, which they complete during two half days per week at their centrally located Career Institutes.
D2 Bond Construction Updates:
Campus infrastructure upgrades funded by the proceeds from the 2020 Bond continue across the district. Dallas ISD has a dedicated 2020 Bond website chock full of detailed information!
November Board Meeting Debrief:
This month, Dallas ISD had its regular board briefing and meeting. I’ve chosen to highlight the most important items below:
Academic Achievement Update: College, Career and Military Readiness: This month’s academic achievement presentation focused on our Board’s goal of making sure students leave us ready for college and career after graduation. Dallas ISD is on track with these goals and is closing achievement gaps between student groups.
Sound financial management: The District’s annual audit concluded with zero findings, in keeping with the three previous years. In addition, TEA awarded Dallas ISD an annual FIRST (Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas) rating of Superior, the highest rating available for financial solvency. Kudos also to the Dallas ISD Procurement team, which was awarded a Transparency Star in the area of Contracts and Procurement from the State of Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have thoughts, ideas, questions, concerns, or simply want to say hello!
Best,
Sarah Weinberg
