Greetings, District 2!
The holidays are here! I hope you enjoy time with loved ones and have a happy holiday season!
I present you with the latest Dallas ISD updates:
Dallas ISD District 2 Monthly Updates:
Strong teaching and learning require strong lesson plans. Consistent implementation of high quality instructional materials across the district ensures that our students are having rich and engaging lessons which are at grade level and are aligned with state learning standards.
Recognizing principal excellence in the District, congratulations to our newly named 2023-2024 Master Principals, a designation awarded annually to the top performing 10% of principals!
Honoring teacher excellence at each campus, cheers to our 2023-2024 Campus Teachers of the Year!
Mechatronics and Manikins: At Dallas ISD’s Career Institutes, students spend half a day every other day earning certifications in high demand, high wage, high skill jobs.
A clean audit opinion is not just about numbers; it's about responsibility and transparency. Dallas ISD’s results reflect sound fiscal management, strong internal controls and diligent stewardship of public funds.

D2 Bond Construction Updates:
Campus infrastructure upgrades funded by the proceeds from the 2020 Bond continue across the district. For up-to-date information, see Dallas ISD’s dedicated 2020 Bond website.
December Board Meeting Debrief:
This month, Dallas ISD had its regular board briefing and meeting. I’ve chosen to highlight the most important items below:
-
Superintendent Evaluation and Incentive Plan: Fulfilling one of its most important roles, the Board successfully completed and approved its annual 2022-2023 Superintendent evaluation and incentive plan. The Board also discussed Superintendent compensation and approved the Superintendent’s 2023-2024 evaluation instrument and incentive plan, both of which are directly aligned to the rigorous academic goals and constraints the Board set for our school system.
-
Student Experience: Progress measurement data on the ensuring high quality student experience constraint measure was presented. Constraints are a governance tool used by boards to set executive limitations that the administration adheres to as they pursue the district’s goals. Dallas ISD is on track with student experiences in campus climate, safety and belonging, with strategic adjustments suggested to push further improvement of the student experience.
-
The Environmental Education Center serves Dallas ISD in a variety of ways. The Board received an update on ways the facility provides students and teachers a space to connect with nature while conducting laboratory and field experiments. It reaches pre-K-12 students through instructional programs and local field trips, teachers with professional development and standards aligned curriculum, and families and community with STEM nights and career days.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have thoughts, ideas, questions, concerns, or simply want to say hello!
Best,
Sarah Weinberg
