April 2025

Dear Residents & Community Members,

If April showers bring May flowers, we should be in for a spectacular garden shortly! Speaking of rain, it didn't dampen the spirit of our enthusiastic volunteers who answered the call to assist in cleaning up our town at the annual Monroe Community Clean Sweep event held on Saturday, April 26th. Covering streets in both villages and the town, our volunteers picked up enough trash to fill a 30 yard dumpster! We were also pleased to see residents taking advantage of the shredding and tire recycling event as well as the newly introduced textile recycling available at this year's event. The smallest act every day can often translate into the greatest impact and we sincerely thank you for doing your part to help us keep Monroe clean!

This month's update offers a glimpse into a variety of recent happenings as well as a number of upcoming events. With Memorial Day only a few short weeks away, this year's parade hosted by the Village of Monroe will take place on Sunday, May 25th with step-off at 1:30 p.m. from Smith's Clove Park. Please consider attending to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of our freedom.

Lastly, we're excited to announce an initiative that is small in nature, but a crucial reminder of the important work our service members perform each and every day for the safety and security of our country. Beginning on Monday, May 12th, please consider stopping by the upper level lobby of Town Hall to pick up a free toy soldier. Alongside the soldiers you will find a sign that reads:

“Please take a soldier home and place it somewhere that will remind you to pray for the men and women serving our country.”

May God Bless all that serve. The Town of Monroe appreciates you and is praying for you!

All the best,

Tony Cardone
