Summer is in full swing in the Town of Monroe and while things may look a bit different this year, we are hopeful you are finding simple opportunities to enjoy this time of year! As we continue to navigate these unique times, we have been making much progress in completing the renovations at the Town Hall building. As part of our consolidation of offices plan, the Town of Monroe Court operations moved into the Town Hall on July 10th. Further information regarding Court operations will continue to be communicated via Constant Contact and our website.
The digital sign in front of Town Hall is now functional and will serve as another valuable tool in communicating important Town and Community related information. As previously communicated, the foyer area of the upper level lobby is currently the only area of the Town Hall building open to the public. Additional building access updates will be shared in the coming weeks.
In January 2018, the Town Board adopted the "Making An Impact" motto as a way to reinforce our belief that when we make an impact on someone's life every day, we all benefit in a positive way! We are pleased to share the stories of a few individuals in this month's update who embody what it means to "Make An Impact." Their dedication and willingness to go above and beyond are inspiring. Particularly during these past few months, I have witnessed and heard many instances of individuals making an impact in our community. On behalf of the Town Board, thank you to those who are willing to step up for the sake of the greater good. Big or small, your contribution will never go unnoticed.

A.J. Roberts, Installation of Town Hall Triple Flagpole
|
For his Eagle Scout project, A.J. Roberts constructed an area for the installation of a triple flagpole at the Town Hall building. The project included the installation of the triple flagpole, creating a stone border around the flagpole area, installation of lighting, planting and mulching at the base of the flagpoles, as well as a commemorative plaque. A.J. was diligent in planning and executing his plans throughout this project. He hosted a community pancake breakfast to assist in his fundraising efforts for the project and communicated progress on a regular basis with the Town Supervisor. As project leader, A.J. had the support and assistance of several Troop 440 members and leaders as well as the Town of Monroe Highway Department in successfully reaching his goal. The addition of a flagpole not only helps to beautify the grounds of Town Hall, but also serves as an important reminder of the freedoms we are blessed to enjoy both in New York State and our country as a whole.

Aidan Corrado, Construction of Picnic Benches at O&R Park
|
For his Eagle Scout project, Town of Monroe resident, Aidan Corrado constructed (7) standard picnic benches and (3) handicap accessible picnic benches for O&R Park. We are thankful for his efforts in creating additional seating areas for our residents to enjoy. These tables will also be enjoyed when we are permitted to host our Food Truck Festivals once again on this property.

Monroe Cemetery Cleanup
The Monroe United Methodist Church, working in conjunction with the Town of Monroe, organized the cleanup of the Community Cemetery of Monroe on Saturday, July 11th. This cemetery is also known as the Monroe Cemetery and is located on Route 17M in Monroe.
The cleanup process encompassed five targeted areas including the monument garden, cleaning of gravestones, trimming of grass around the gravestones and the replacement of the cemetery sign posts. A special thank you to Sheryl Abernathy for leading the clean up effort and to all the volunteers for making an impact!

County Executive Neuhaus Visits Monroe to Show Support for Local Businesses
|
Orange County Executive, Steve Neuhaus, along with Town of Monroe Supervisor, Tony Cardone and Village of Monroe Mayor, Neil Dwyer visited several Monroe businesses last month to show their support and emphasize the importance of patronizing local business.
Tour stops included: Foreign Objects Brewerey, The Captain's Table, Daylight Donuts, Blend Smoothie and Salad Bar, and LoveBites Chocolate Shoppe.
