October/November 2024

Dear Residents & Community Members,

It's been quite the busy month with a wonderful array of community events! Please read on in this month's update for a visual snapshot of the fun-filled Food Truck Festival, Trunk or Treat and Fall Festival at Smith's Clove Park. We are always thankful for the opportunity to bring members of our community together with events like this.

Preparation of the town's 2025 budget has been underway for several months and will be wrapping up with the adoption of the final Annual Budget on or before November 20, 2024 as required. We continue to focus on fiscal responsibility while seeking avenues for improvement for the benefit of our taxpayers. Taking a look at the past 6 years, we are pleased to report only a minimal tax rate increase for both Village and Town homeowners. Please view the attached chart for more detail regarding this.

All town offices will be closed on Monday, November 11th in observance of Veterans Day. Today and every day, we remain grateful for our veterans and their selfless service to our country. We hope you will have a chance to visit the Field of Honor in front of Town Hall this month as our residents and community members honor the heroes in their life. The sight of so many American flags flown in unison is a reminder of how blessed we are to live in the "land of the free because of the brave." More information on the Flags for our Heroes program is included below.

As we enter into the holiday season, on behalf of the Town Board, we wish you healthy, happy moments spent with those who mean the most to you.

All the best,

Tony Cardone

Supervisor, Town of Monroe

Flags for our Heroes Program at Town Hall

We are pleased to announce the return of the Flags for Our Heroes Program at Monroe Town Hall. Flags for Our Heroes was created as a program to celebrate the heroes in our lives, both living and deceased. Flags can be flown for a variety of heroes including the men and women who are serving or have served as members of the military, police officers, firefighters, first responders, parents, teachers, coaches, and/or mentors, to name a few.

In honor of Veterans Day, fees collected for sponsored flags this November will be donated to the Orange County Nam Knights in support of their efforts with the Wreaths Across America program. The cost to sponsor a flag is $25.

  • The sponsored flags will be displayed on the Field of Honor located on the front lawn of Monroe Town Hall located at 1465 Orange Turnpike from Monday, November 4th through Monday, November 25th.

  • Completed sponsorship forms should be returned to the Town Clerk's Office at Town Hall no later than Tuesday, November 12th. Payment will be accepted in the form of cash or a check made payable to Nam Knights.

  • To ensure heroes and sponsors are correctly identified on your commemorative medallion, please honor only one hero per form (one payment may be submitted to accompany multiple forms).
