February 2020
I am pleased to share with you the February Town of Monroe Monthly Update. The response from last month's inaugural issue has been positive! Tools such as this enable us to keep you well informed and often serve as a catalyst for conversation about how we can best serve our residents' needs. I am always available to further discuss any information presented here as well as any other concerns you may have by contacting my office at 783-1900, extension 104.

As communicated in recent weeks, we have several board vacancies available for 2020. If you are interested in making an impact, I encourage you to submit a letter of interest and resume through our website at https://www.monroeny.org/jobs.html or by mail by February 14th.

Thank you for continuing to spread the word about our Constant Contact communications. Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated!

Cordially,

Tony Cardone
Supervisor, Town of Monroe
Spotlight On Town Initiatives
Town Hall Renovations
We are on schedule to complete inside renovations in the Town Hall Building by the last week in March. Outdoor renovations should be completed by the end of April, weather permitting. A dedication ceremony will be held in the Spring upon the completion of all renovations. We will communicate a date for this event in the near future. All residents and community members are welcome and encouraged to attend!

LED Streetlight Conversion
We continue to make progress on the conversion of our streetlights to LED. The survey for this conversion has been completed by RealTerm Energy and we have begun the streetlight acquisition process with Orange & Rockland. The next step is the completion of the Investment Grade Audit which involves assessing the acquisition of the streetlight system, the retrofit of the fixtures to LED technology & the development of a maintenance program. Upon the completion of this audit, we will move forward with the bid process for the conversion installation. We are excited about this project and believe it creates a balance between efficient lighting and cost savings for our residents.

Tax Collection Update
To date, the Tax Collector has collected 83% of the tax bills.

A 1% penalty will be added for payments made during February. A 2% penalty will be added for payments made during March. As a reminder, the last day for the acceptance of tax payments is March 31, 2020. Tax payments after that date must be paid to the Orange County Commissioner of Finance.
