Dear Residents & Community Members,

We begin August with exciting news we recently shared at the July 15th Town Board meeting regarding (2) significant grant awards for the Town of Monroe. Specifically, the town has been approved for funding through the 2023 BRIDGE NY Program in the amount of $1,102,000 for the replacement of the East Mombasha Road culvert over the Tributary to Little Dam Lake. In addition, the Town Clerk's office applied to the Local Government Records Management Improvement Fund (LGRMIF) – Archiving Grant and was awarded $74,245 by the New York State Archives, a unit of the NYS Education Department (SED). This important funding will focus on enhancing the organization of records, installation of shelves and streamlined access to locating information. The town continues to seek grant funding opportunities to improve the town's infrastructure as well as ways to improve processes for the benefit of our residents.

Summer is going by at lightning speed, as usual, but there is still much fun to be had! The Village of Monroe will host their annual Carnival at the Millponds from August 1st - 4th. Please see the flyer in this month's update for additional information. In addition, the 2024 New York Airshow will take place August 10th - 11th at Orange County Airport. If you haven't had the opportunity to attend this event in the past, it is truly an amazing experience. Wishing you a fun-filled, memorable August!

Cordially,

Town Hall Community Garden Dedication

The Town Hall Community Garden was officially dedicated with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, July 18th. The ceremony marked the culmination of two years of dedication and hard work led by Monroe resident Kelly Imhof in pursuit of the Girl Scout Gold Award through the Girl Scout Council approved project of the creation of the garden. With Kelly's leadership, focus, countless hours of volunteer contribution and the generosity of several local businesses, her vision became a reality. The garden is a wonderful addition to the Town Hall property and community and we look forward to our residents enjoying it for many years to come. For more information on the Community Garden and plot availability, please contact Ann Marie Morris at 845-783-9486.
