September
The lyrics to an old tune come to mind as I write today:
Try to remember the kind of September
When life was slow and oh, so mellow
In 1965, when “Try to Remember” was released, I was six years old and would listen to a radio on my bedside table as I fell asleep each night. In my callow, child-like mind, I imagined that the bands would be playing in the radio studio as the music was broadcast. I imagined them setting up and breaking down for each song. A six-year-old imagination is delightful!
Today we celebrated International Literacy Day with students dressed as their favorite book characters. The imagination shown was delightful! Dog Man, Pigeon, Harry Potter characters, a Greaser from The Outsiders, Curious George, Ms. Frizzle, and Miss Nelson, to name a few. During our House period, all students came to the gym and were divided into reading groups. They read from their favorite books, then made their own bookmarks! Lots of fun was had by all.
One of the most delightful things we do at Trident Academy is having fun while learning. Our students like being here and learning together. Today was one of many examples of our community coming together and participating in fun educational experiences.
Enjoy this lovely weekend.
Blessings,
Betsy
