VBH WEEKLY HEADLINES
Operation Sandwich

Our monthly Veteran Volunteer opportunity for February is Urban Ministries (UM) Operation Sandwich. VBH has partnered with UM to provide 750-1000 sandwiches a day during the week of February 18th through 22nd.

Interested in getting a few teammates together at work or home? Click here to RSVP your group, learn the basics and other important information about Operation Sandwich. Its a fun, easy, team building program anyone can do.

The Urban Ministry Center serves as a point of entry to services offered by a network of agencies that work closely together to provide necessary opportunities for the Charlotte homeless population. They're an interfaith agency drawing support and volunteers from more than 130 houses of faith. Through Operation Sandwich, they serve 800 sandwiches a day to our neighbors.
Veterans Uptown Lunch

We are pleased to welcome Rob Egan, General Manager of the Charlotte Knights, as our next guest speaker at the Veterans Uptown Lunch. Come and join us from 1200-1300 on Wednesday February 13th at Covenant Presby. Click here to RSVP!

A native of Grand Blanc, Michigan, Egan has worked in the Altoona Curve front office for 14 seasons, including the last eight as the team's general manager (2009-2016). In 2014, he earned the Eastern League Executive of the Year Award.

Prior to taking over as general manager, Egan spent his first six seasons as the first radio broadcaster in Curve franchise history. Prior to 1999, Egan worked for minor league teams in Charleston, S.C., Johnstown, and Salinas, Calif.

Veteran of the Month

VBH would like to recognize our fellow Veterans who served and are continuing to serve, their community. Do you know anyone who served, who doesn’t seek attention, but seems like they’re always doing good? This is your opportunity to show them a little love. No matter how young or old, we encourage you to nominate a deserving Veteran today. It could be a family member, spouse, friend, mom or dad.

Veterans will be selected on such factors as community impact and service record. Each month we will select a Veteran who will receive a VBH prize package including a shirt, hat, recognition and more. Selections will be recognized in The Connector and social media channels. They will also be entered in a drawing to receive four (4) free Carolina Panthers tickets to a game during the 2019 season.
Volunteer today with Novant Health Hospice. They participate in the national We Honor Veterans hospice partnership—to ensure we are meeting the needs of seriously ill Veterans and their families.

Veteran hospice volunteers are a valuable resource for other veterans at the end of life as they share similar experiences, a common language terminology, cultural bond, and codes of conduct and honor. This allows for the perfect gateway to be opened between Veteran Volunteers and Veterans being cared for by hospice.

If you are a veteran and would like to provide much needed support to our patients and families, please contact Volunteer Coordinator, Misty Santiago at [email protected] or

The Y-Guides program is a great excuse for dads to spend quality time with their kids , boys or girls, and make some lasting memories. Y-Guides has gone by a few names, such as YMCA Indian Princesses/Braves and Adventure Guides, however the premise has remained the same; to stop and take some time to do fun stuff with the little ones when it matters most.  You do not have to be a member of the YMCA and we do offer Financial Assistance.  If you are interested, contact Karen Credle at [email protected] or CLICK HERE .
