The California Labor Market report shows Ventura County's July 2019 unemployment rate is 3.9%, up from 3.6% in June 2019.
A total of 900 non-farm jobs were added in July 2019; however, 4,200 jobs were lost, amounting to a net loss of 3,300 jobs. The loss can be largely attributed to typical summer season losses in public education jobs. Specifically, losses consist of 3,600 in government (public education), 300 in educational and health services, 200 in leisure and hospitality, and 100 in other services. Job gains include 400 in manufacturing, 200 in construction, 200 in financial activities, and 100 in professional and health services.
