President's Report

Attention PTA Leaders!

We are “rounding third base and on our way to home plate” of this school year!  I hope you all have had a wonderful Spring Break and now it’s time to finish the PTA year STRONG!

  • Have you purchased your tickets to the Presidents’ and Principals’ Luncheon on May 16th?
  • Have you applied for County Council Awards and FL PTA Awards?  Deadline for Council Council is April 25th and FL PTA is May 1st

What an amazing two years I have had as the President of Duval County Council of PTAs.  It has been an honor and pleasure serving you all.  I have met so many great PTA leaders in the schools all over Duval County.  You should all give yourselves a pat on the back for all the hard work you have put in on behalf of the students at your schools.

We are blessed to have such an abundance of talent in Duval County.  Parents, grandparents, community leaders, aunts and uncles, caregivers, principals and teachers have done so much to teach and love our students.

I ask that each of you think of two things before your leadership term ends.

  1. Who is going to replace you in your PTA?
You have great leaders all around you, with many different leadership styles and they all want to help the students and teachers.  I am sure you can indentify many people around you who can take on your position.  Be ready to hand off your notebook or thumb drive to the next person.

  1. What is your next leadership position in PTA?
Follow your passion whether it is fund raising, membership, teacher appreciation or something completely different.  Please remember your talents will always be appreciated at the County Council and the FL PTA level.

Don’t put limits on yourself or on others in PTA.  Think of all the skills you have used to serve in your position: negotiation, leadership, friendship, strategic planning, counseling, money management, and of course, organization.

Again, you are all amazing and I have been lucky to have served with you and your PTAs.

Sincerely,
Karen Nuland, President- Duval County Council of PTAs 2015-2017

Public schools belong to the community — when students thrive, so does Jacksonville.

YOUR VOICE MATTERS!

Event is free and open to the public, however  registration is required . Breakfast samples will be provided by local culinary students. Lunch will be provided. Space is limited. Don't miss your chance to attend!

Honorary Life Memberships

Giving an Honorary PTA Life Membership to that special person who has done so much for your PTA is such a special way to make them know how important they are to you.  Having it awarded to them at the Presidents’ and Principals’ Luncheon in May in front of a room full of other PTAs and their Principals is an even more outstanding way to make them feel extra special.  And, following their presentation, they can have their picture taken by a professional photographer to preserve that wonderful moment.

If you would like to have your Life Memberships presented at the P&P Luncheon on May 16, 2017.  When you fill out the application just fill in my name and address in the  return section .  I will be collecting all the Life Memberships and preparing them for presentation at the luncheon.  If you will let me know you have done this, I will be happy to let you know when I receive them so you are assured your Life Membership will be ready for presentation at the luncheon.
