REACH - MEDITERRANEAN BAPTIST
From July 2–12, a team of ten Americans traveled to Cairo to conduct our first-ever Youth Conference. Pastor Jon Estes from Henry Baptist was the main speaker, with Pastor Dean Chambers and Pastor Chet Cooper assisting and preaching in our churches. The theme of the conference was The Great Exchange: “Not I, but Christ” from Galatians 2:20. Egypt, much like America, is seeing more young people choose career paths that promise prosperity, while few are willing to embrace the hardship of full-time Christian service.
Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest. —Matthew 9:37-38
The results of the conference exceeded our expectations! Over 300 young people gathered, and revival broke out. On the final night, the meeting lasted over three hours, with our workers counseling young people for several hours afterward. Pastor Eid invited all those who had come to Christ to step forward and publicly proclaim Jesus Christ. Twenty-eight youth stood boldly at the front, confessing that they had received Christ as Savior during the conference. To God be the glory.
Please continue to pray for our churches in Egypt and for Middle East Baptist Seminary. Though regional conflicts have made things tense, God has remained faithful to the believers there. We are thankful that tensions are now beginning to ease.
