Minnesota lands federal money for $300 weekly unemployment boost
From MPRNews, Brian Bakst, August 31, 2020

Minnesota officials anticipate receiving money soon to send out for enhanced unemployment payments to people out of work due to the coronavirus.
Federal approval came Saturday, a swift turnaround after Minnesota applied late last week for a program that will provide $300 more per week in unemployment payments. The extra assistance will be retroactive for the past month and could last well into September.
The federal government had been adding $600 per week to state unemployment payments, but that allowance expired in late July.
Department of Employment and Economic Development Commissioner Steve Grove tweeted Sunday that the U.S. treasury is expected to forward money for the program to Minnesota soon. Once it’s in hand, the state agency will start processing payments.
Grove declined to offer additional comment on Sunday.
The money will go to people whose jobs were disrupted directly by the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions imposed to contain the virus spread.
Eligible recipients won’t have to apply for the additional help. The awards will be included in weekly checks.

American Freedom and Pride
Eagle Scout Project at the Monticello American Legion Post 260
Paul is the scout that came up with the idea for the mural and he proposed it to the American Legion and the troop.

His very talented father was able to trace the pattern with help of a few others.
His dad's very talented cousin painted the Eagle. Sherwin-Williams in Monticello donated all the paint and supplies.

My scouts helped in the majority of the rest of the prepping, priming and painting. This was a very ambitious project but with Paul's determination and the support of his family and his fellow scouts and scout leaders the result speaks for itself.

My name is Richard Crummy and I am the Scoutmaster for Monticello's Troop 270. I posted this because I wanted
1) to show in a time of unrest there is still so much good to be given back to our community and veterans.
2) that my/ our troop is more than just a few meetings and that we strive to try and give back our community when we can.
3) with all the negativity in the news about the BSA (BSA as a whole) that the organization is still relevant in today's world.
I don't post much about my troop but sometimes events happen and just need to be shared.
I am very proud of Paul but I am also proud of each and everyone of the scouts I have had the privilege of getting to know over my 20 years in scouting.
