"This outstanding producer is usually exclusive to restaurants and not through retail, yet we can offer you an allocation today. This is thanks to our excellent partnerships with our favorite suppliers.

The first time I tasted the Meurgey-Croses Macon-Uchizy was in a blind tasting. Yet, I immediately knew it was a classic and very high-quality Burgundy. I was so impressed with the beguiling mix of stone fruit, citrus, minerality, and a whisper of tropical fruits. It finishes with refreshing acidity that begs you to take another sip! It is a Macon that definitely punches way above its price point. I love how effortlessly it glides across your palate and can be enjoyed both alone or with a meal.

This is a top-tier Burgundy that is sure to sell out soon. Don't miss your chance to secure a case of this exceptional wine...

  • Amazing Value: if this was in Meursault or Puligny-Montrachet it would cost 2-5 times the price! But since it is from the up-and-coming Maconnais region, you get tremendous QPR.

  • Exquisite Taste Profile: "Baby Puligny-Montrachet" in style; high-end structure, aromatics and also mineral-laden

  • 2021 is a STELLAR year for White Burgundy

  • Rare Plantings and Excellent Terroir: 35 year-old superior vines on clay & limestone soil helps to give this wine the superb minerality with enticing aromatics!

  • Usually exclusive to restaurants and not available retail.

More About the Producer:

It has been said that in partnership, the result is harmony. Through a lifetime of building relationships in the vineyards of Burgundy, Pierre Meurgey has proven this a steadfast rule. A native Burgundian, fourth generation wine trader, and former director of operations of a well-known négociant in Beaune, Pierre enjoys friendships with the top vintners and vineyard managers in Burgundy to source the finest grapes for his two labels Pierre Meurgey and Meurgey-Croses, the latter a tribute to his mother Marie-Thérèse Croses. Pierre is omnipresent in the vineyards from pruning to bud- break to harvest, offering his expertise in organic and biodynamic agriculture while working tirelessly with vineyard managers to oversee the plots destined to become his signature Cote d'Or and Mâconnais wines.

Meurgey carefully selects his favorite fruit from only one conscientious grower per appellation contrôlée. His winery's design takes advantage of nature's own winemaking skills, minimizing demands for manipulation and even casual intervention. Located in the northern part of Macon, the village of Uchizy is known for wines with expressive aromatic profiles and pronounced minerality. Planted to clay and limestone soils with E-SE exposure, this wine comes from 35 year-old Chardonnay vines. It is fermented and aged only in tank to protect its natural freshness and minerality.

2021 Meurgey-Croses Macon-Uchizy

Maconnais, Burgundy

90 Points - Vinous:

The 2021 Mâcon-Uchizy has an attractive petrichor scented bouquet, crisp and focused, almost Chablis-like in style. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry, tensile with a keen thread of acidity that imparts plenty of tension and nerve on the finish. Bravo. Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting.

Allen Meadow's Burghound:

Cool and restrained aromas include those of green apple, zest and a whiff of spice. There is both good density and vibrancy to the delicious middleweight flavors that exude a subtle bead of minerality on the mildly rustic, clean and agreeably dry if not especially complex finale.
