Board of Supervisors Meeting Highlights - February 3

The Board of Supervisors held the annual township reorganization meeting on Wednesday, February 3. At the meeting, supervisors recognized Ampco Pittsburgh Charitable Foundation for their partnership of the Robin Hill Park 90 acre wood trail system. Supervisors also approved the major land development plan for PNC Bank as recommended by the planning director for one of the outer Walmart parcels.

Supervisors awarded the proposals for the architectural/design firm for the Moon Township Police Building located at 1000 Beaver Grade Road to begin construction. Township supervisors also approved the bids for the Municipal Building addition and façade improvements contract as recommended by the Township Consulting Engineer, Lennon, Smith, Souleret Engineering, Inc. Finally, the board approved the bids for Downes Fire Station. Be sure to check out moontwp.us for more information as these updates progress.

The Board of Supervisors regular public meeting is held on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. Watch live on MAG-TV, Comcast channel 18, or Verizon channel 37. The meetings are rebroadcast throughout the month on MAG-TV. Check the website for times. You can also watch a recording online. View the meeting agendas in advance here.
Winter Weather Reminders

The Moon Township Public Works Department would like residents to know how they can assist with snow removal activities. A recurrent problem is that many residents are parking their vehicles on the street rather than in the driveway or garage of their home. This often impedes plowing within neighborhoods. All residents can be of assistance to the Public Works Department by adhering to the following guidelines:

1. Please park in the driveway of your home and not on the street during periods of snow or ice, to allow for easier access by maintenance vehicles. On-street parking makes it much more difficult for Township forces to clear the streets, particularly when vehicles are parked on either side of the road. Please be courteous to your neighbors so that your street can be properly cleaned.
2. When clearing driveways, do not shovel or blow snow back onto the roadway after the street has been plowed and salted.

We thank our residents for their assistance, patience, and cooperation until spring arrives.

There is Still Time to Visit the Ice Rink

The Moon Park Ice Rink is open! Last year, the small ice rink under the Clearview Pavilion was a big hit. This year the rink expanded and moved onto the tennis courts. This new location allows the rink to more than double its size. The 48' x 68' rink has short sides to allow for recreational hockey or ice skating.

Acrylic ice functions in many of the same ways as real ice, but it doesn't require below freezing temperatures. For the best results, we recommend sharpening your skates. Sharp skates will provide the best glide. The rink is open daily from dawn to dusk and on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from dawn to 9 p.m.

Street shoes are not allowed on the rink. No checking is allowed during contact play. The rink is free and open to the public. Currently, we do not have skates available for rent. Check Moonparks.org for more information.
