Moon Lights Holiday Festival
Saturday, December 5
5 p.m.-8 p.m. at Moon Park
The Moon Lights Holiday Festival returns to Moon Township. This annual festival began several years ago and outgrew its original location at the Township building. Last year it moved to Moon Park and included the lighting of all park pavilions. This year we are adding new light displays. Each year we will be building on these displays. We hope to make Moon Park a destination for holiday light viewing.
Santa will arrive on the Firetruck at 5 p.m. He will ride into the park and light our Moon Park Christmas Tree at the Rotary Pavilion. Following the lighting of the tree, Santa will be available for socially distanced photos and visits with local children. Bring your letters for Santa to drop in his mailbox. The event will also feature performances by local dancers and musicians, moonparks.org food trucks, a smores station, and much more. Check the full event schedule online at moonparks.org.
The safety of our community is our highest priority. This event will adhere to current CDC guidelines surrounding Covid-19. Please check the park's website for up to date social distancing protocols and guidelines for the event.

Archery Hunt in Moon Parks
September 19-January 23 (No Sunday Hunts)
With the increasing deer population, Moon Township has decided to host a public (archery only) deer hunting program for the 2020-2021 season. This will allow a limited number of licensed hunters who applied for a permit to hunt at Moon Park, Olson Park, and Robin Hill Park during hunting season from September 19-January 23. There will be no Sunday hunting and there will be no firearms permitted. Hunters must have completed the Pennsylvania Basic Hunter-Trapper Education Course and have a valid archery hunting license. All Pennsylvania Game rules will apply.
The Hunter Access Program created a partnership between the Game Commission and the Township whereby they work together to improve the public hunting opportunities and wildlife habitat. This program allows hunters and trappers to help manage the game and fur-bearer populations through lawful hunting and trapping. This program will be able to minimize the overpopulation of deer in Moon Township and the surrounding areas. By lowering the density of deer in the area, this will help to lower car accidents caused by deer, the growing tick population, and help to protect green space in Moon Township where deer are overeating. We have reached the permitted limit for the time. For more information and information on the 2021-2022 season, visit www.moontwp.us.

 Spotted Lanternfly Checklist
Join the effort to control and prevent the spread of Spotted Lanternfly. We need everyone to protect their properties, communities, and the Commonwealth from this invasive insect that has the potential to change our landscape and quality of life.
Any efforts you make in destroying the Spotted Lanternfly or its' egg masses help reduce populations on your property and in your community. SLF can be controlled with a combination of physical removal of life stages and host trees and pesticide applications. Use Penn State's Extension Management Resources to safely manage SLF on your property or at your business. Utilization of these management techniques is also important to assist PDA and USDA in control of the spread of this invasive pest. |

There is Still Time to Make 2020 Count
The census provides critical data that lawmakers, business owners, teachers, and many others use to provide daily services, products, and support for you and your community. Every year, billions of dollars in federal funding go to hospitals, fire departments, schools, roads, and other resources based on census data.
Most households received their invitation to respond to the 2020 Census between March 12-20. These official Census Bureau mailings include detailed information and a Census ID for completing the Census online.
In addition to an invitation to respond, some households will receive a paper questionnaire (sometimes known as the census form). You do not need to wait for your paper questionnaire to respond to the Census.
Please complete your form online, by phone, or by mail. Visit my2020census.gov to begin.

Ask Alexa or Google
|
Moon Township collaborated with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant to bring voice-activated
e-gov to resident's households. This will allow users to download the skill of "Make it Moon" through their Google or Alexa app and then speak to their device to ask about events in Moon or report a problem.
This feature also allows users to find out when events are going on by asking questions such as "When is trick or treat?" or "What do I do with my tree limbs?" Also, it can be used like the e-gov service offered online through the municipality to report problems and ask questions.
