Supervisors voted to amend the Zoning Ordinance (Chapter 27 of the Moon Township Code of Ordinances) in order to revise the Marketplace Boulevard TND District related regulations to define and clarify the term Mixed-Use Building and mixed-use developments within the District. Residents interested in learning the details of the amendment may view a copy at the Municipal Building. It will be posted to the ordinance section of moontwp.com soon.

Five Moon Township Residents Receive Difference Maker Award
Fourteen members of the Allegheny County Council District 1 community were honored as "Difference Makers" at two town hall meetings this summer.
District 1 comprises 14 municipalities, including Moon Township. The Difference Maker Award recognizes the efforts of community members who make incredible efforts to help others and make a positive impact in our community.  Councilman Tom Baker and Councilman-at-Large Sam DeMarco presented the awards. Of the 14 winners, five are Moon Township residents, including:
  • Gwen Ogle for her work with the LifeSpan Senior Center, the Pennsylvania State Board on Aging, and the Allegheny County Board on Aging,
  • The Magulick family for bringing a Miracle League field to Moon Township and their efforts in raising awareness to the needs of special needs children and adults (could not attend),
  • Cindy Johnston for her long-term, unwavering dedication to our community, most recently as chair of the Moon Township Parks and Recreation Board and a member of the Hollow Oak Land Trust Board,
  • Linda Francis for bringing senior fitness programs to MCA-TV for over 33 years, and
  • Arthur Hazen for being named Big Brother of the Year in Pennsylvania.
Supervisors presented these five residents with certificates to recognize their achievement and dedication to our community.

West-Aircomm FCU Recognized for Community Support
Supervisors recognized the West-Aircomm Federal Credit Union for their 2018 Moon Township Farmers' Market sponsorship and partnership. West-Aircomm developed an exciting and popular children and youth outreach program featuring $2.00 produce coupons. The program educated and encouraged children about healthy spending and eating habits, as well as supporting our community vendors. West-Aircomm has been a long-term supporter of Moon Township through event and program sponsorship. We look forward to continuing this partnership.

Property Tax Information

2018 Township of Moon Property Taxes
We are now collecting the 10% Penalty amount until December 31, 2018 for the Township of Moon Property taxes.  Please remember, according to Pennsylvania state law, the property owner is responsible for the property tax regardless of whether or not a statement was received. Also according to the law, partial payments are not permitted.

2018 Moon Area School District Property Taxes
We are now collecting the full face amount of the Moon Area School District property tax through October 31, 2018. Installment payments can no longer be started since the first installment was due no later than August 31. If you are on the installment plan, you should have received the remaining three payment coupons. If not, please call our office. The next installment is due no later than September 30.

Please note that at this time, installment payments are not able to be made using the tax office online option. Also, the online payment section of the tax office is generic in nature, which makes it possible to duplicate a payment through that system. If you are unsure, please call us before making an online payment.

Things to Remember
  • Tax office hours are listed at the bottom of your tax statements.
  • Postmarked mail is always accepted, but please remember, it must show the post mark on the envelope.
  • If you wish to receive a paid receipt, whether it's the individual installment payments or the final summary of all payments, please send a self-addressed stamped envelope. The cost of printing, postage and envelopes prohibits my office from sending these as a courtesy and not all taxpayers request receipts.
  • If you are unsure of your property tax payments, please call the office prior to making a possible duplicate payment. We will be glad to check for you.
  • If a property owner's mailing address needs updated or changed for whatever reason, please contact me at the Moon Township tax office at 412.299.7446 as well as county treasurer John Weinstein at 412.350.4100, as soon as possible.
  • Please visit my website for more information, including office hours, holiday closings, and other useful information.
