The Board of Supervisors held their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, January 3rd at 6 PM.

At the meeting, the Board of Supervisors appointed Frank Starko as the new Chief of Police for the Moon Township Police Department. Former Chief of Police Greg Seamon was also appointed the new Public Safety Director for the township.

The Board of Supervisors regular public meeting is held on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:00 PM at the Municipal Building. Watch live on MAG-TV, Comcast channel 14, or Verizon channel 37. The Public Works Department will offer curbside Christmas tree pickup for live trees only through January 13. Residents are asked to place trees at the curb by 8 a.m. following their regular garbage schedule. All ornaments and decorations must be removed. Artificial trees are not accepted.

The first day to rent a pavilion for Moon Township residents will be Monday, February 6. Reservations will be taken in person until Noon and then transition to phone reservations. The location as well as additional information regarding the first day of rentals will be published on the website (www.moonparks.org) in January. After onsite registration ends on Monday, February 6, please call the Parks and Recreation office at 412.262.1703 Ext. 404 for pavilion availability and to make reservations. To qualify for the resident rate, you must provide proof of residency in Moon Township, sign the agreement, and make payment. Rentals cannot be made in another person’s name to get the resident rate.

*Pavilion rentals are reserved by the day (9a.m.-11p.m.) and are available 7 days a week during our rental season. Monday-Friday are weekday rates. Saturday & Sunday are weekend rates. Please visit our website at moonparks.org for the latest pavilion, fee, and rental process information.

Moon Community Access Television is excited to announce the dates for Public Awareness Weekend 2023, a live television event featuring Pittsburgh-area nonprofits. This event will be held on Friday, March 10th, and Saturday, March 11th from 8:00 a.m. - 8 p.m. each day. Interviews are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested participants may contact Morgan Torchia via email at mtorchia@moontwp.us. All nonprofit organizations are welcome.
