Board Of Supervisors Meeting Highlights - October 6

The Board of Supervisors held their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, October 6.
At the meeting, the board approved entering into an easment agreement with the Moon Township Municipal Authority to pave the way for a new sanitary sewer to serve Moon Park, the new Moon Dog Park, and the Downes Fire Station.
The board also voted to continue the Public Hearing for the Short Term Rental Ordinance.
Also, the board approved the Memorandum of Understanding for the (SRO) School Resource Officer Program between Moon Area School District and Moon Township.

The Board of Supervisors' regular public meeting is held on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. Watch live on MAG-TV, Comcast channel 18, or Verizon channel 37. Halloween House Decorating Contest
Date: Friday, October 1-Friday, October 29
Location: Moon Township
Do you have the spookiest house on the block? Does your home scare neighborhood children? Enter your home into the Moon Township Halloween House Decorating Contest. Starting October 1 send up to 6 pictures of your home. Photos will be displayed online where the public can vote on them. The home with the most votes by Friday, October 29 will win a trophy and gift basket.
The voting page will feature the addresses of the homes entered in the contest. For inspiration check out the 2020 entries on the Moon Parks & Recreation Facebook page.

Moon Parks and Recreation's annual Moon Halloween Spooktacular returns to Moon Park this October. This event will feature a Trunk or Treat, pumpkin painting, food trucks, and more. The first 500 kids through the Trunk or Treat will receive a T-Mobile bag and munchkin pumpkin.
We are looking for businesses, organizations, or individuals interested in hosting a trunk at this event.

Moon Township Trick or Treat
Moon Township Trick or Treat will be on Sunday, October 31 from 6-7:30 PM. Halloween is a festive and fun time of the year for kids, but it can be a little tricky for parents. Here are a few safety tips!
- Apply makeup instead of wearing a mask. Masks can be hot and uncomfortable, and they can obstruct a child’s vision.
- Arrange for an adult or responsible teenager to accompany younger children when Trick or Treating.

Submit a Question or Concern Online

Submit a question, comment, or concern to Moon Township officials through the Citizen Request System.
The system allows residents to submit their concerns and track their resolution through ongoing updates, ensuring a timely response from Moon Township staff.

Moon Township collaborated with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant to bring voice-activated
e-gov to resident's households. This will allow users to download the skill of "Make it Moon" through their Google or Alexa app and then speak to their device to ask about events in Moon or report a problem.
This feature also allows users to find out when events are going on by asking questions such as "When is trick or treat?" or "What do I do with my tree limbs?" Also, it can be used like the e-gov service offered online through the municipality to report problems and ask questions.

Senior Connection Halloween Costume Party

Moon Park Pavilion Rentals
|

Moon Parks and Recreation is taking pavilion rental reservations for the 2021 rental season (May – October). Pavilions are reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please have several dates and pavilions chosen in case your first choice is not available. We offer both weekday (Monday-Friday) and weekend rentals.
Reservation and payment must be made by a Moon resident to receive the resident rate. Rentals cannot be made in another person's name to get the resident rate. All agreements and payments must come from the resident.
Pavilions and fees are listed at moonparks.org. Please call the Parks and Recreation office at 412.262.1703 for pavilion availability and to arrange a pavilion rental.

Waste Management At Your Door Recycling Program

Waste Management offers a residential curbside special materials pickup. The "At Your Door Special Collection" program allows most Moon Township residents to easily and safely dispose of household materials. There are three ways to schedule a collection:

Glass Recycling Collection Event
|
In response to the removal of glass from many residents recycling programs in the Pittsburgh area, Pennsylvania Resource Council (PRC) launched a network of pop-up glass recycling events. These events recognize that glass remains a recyclable material with vibrant demand in the regional and national recycled marketplace.
The collection event hosted by Moon Township will be from Saturday, October 9-Thursday, October 14 at the Moon Township Public Works Building located at 1115 Stevenson Mill Road, Moon Township, PA.
The types of glass accepted are:
· All colors of glass bottles, jars, and jugs only
· Caps, lids, and labels are acceptable
· Containers must be empty

Promote Your Event On The Community Bulletin Board

Is your organization or nonprofit looking to get the word out about an upcoming event? MCA-TV offers a bulletin board service for Moon Township residents to publicize their community program or event in-between regularly scheduled programming. The community bulletin board is an automated, computer-generated video graphics message service provided free of charge to all Moon Township residents as well as nonprofit groups and organizations. Visit mca-tv.org and click on the "Bulletin Board" tab to read the guidelines and rules and to fill out the online submission form. Paper forms are available in the MCA-TV office.
