Greetings!
February has been designated Black History Month, honoring the struggles and triumphs of African Americans throughout U.S. history, including the struggle for civil rights and their many artistic, cultural and political achievements. We can all celebrate their great accomplishments.
And even though it is late, Happy Valentines!! Our modern Valentine’s Day can be traced back to the ancient Roman celebration of Lupercalia, held in mid-February to honor the gods Lupercus and Faunus and the coming of spring. At the end of the fifth century, Pope Gelasius replaced Lupercalia with St. Valentine’s Day. It became a day of romance during the Middle Ages.
