Spud Speech Claims Ninth Straight State Championship

Three seniors—Eleanor Culloton, Evan Froslie and Allie Skauge—captured individual state crowns and 15 other Spuds medaled in their categories as the Spud Speech team secured their eye-popping ninth straight state title in Shakopee on April 26. For Culloton and Froslie, it is their second straight year with individual championships.

Early Education Lab at Career Academy Promotes Meaningful Interactions between Spud High Schoolers and Preschoolers

The Early Education Lab, a satellite JumpStart classroom, is located inside the MHS Career Academy. This location helps facilitate unique interactions between MHS students and JumpStart Spuds that are memorable for the youngsters and valuable for the development of the high schoolers.

If you listen to the Minnesota Twins' radio broadcasts, you may have heard the work of MHS 2021 grad Riley Swenson during the pregame and postgame shows. Riley got his start in sportscasting thanks to opportunities at MAPS—provided to him as early as middle school!

Energy-efficient MHS Design Earns MAPS a $45k Check from Moorhead Public Service

At last month's school board meeting, MPS presented the district with a big check—both literally and figuratively—for MAPS' continued efforts to be energy efficient with new projects.

Schools and Transportation Team Up to Roll Out Bus App for Parents

Originally scheduled to take over two months, the district-wide implementation of a new bus app for parents wrapped up after just four weeks thanks to strong teamwork across nearly every MAPS building!

The FM Extra's Nancy Edmonds Hanson visited the Career Academy to profile the Spudnik Robotics team. Nancy spoke with Tammy Risinger and her husband Craig, who coach the team. Tammy is also a paraprofessional at Robert Asp Elementary.

Book Vending Machine Big Hit at Local Elementary School

KVRR's Gabriel Ostler stopped by Dorothy Dodds Elementary to report on Inchy's Bookworm Vending Machine, which is in its second year of operation at Dodds. Located just outside the school's media center, the machine remains very popular among Dodds' Spuds.
