MEET MOOZIE

If your dog has arthritis or has trouble standing or walking, or has weak wrists or ankles, can't see very well, can't eat or drink without help, or has neurological issues, tremors, and seizures ... then this Vital Vet Newsletter issue is for you. Meet "Moozie", the 11 year old pitbull who was diagnosed with cerebellar abiotrophy (a condition similar to DM) when he was 4.  Moozie has ALL of the above problems and was not expected to survive past his 5th birthday. But with the help of the veterinary rehabilitation community, some assistive products, and a will to live, Moozie is still here and living his best life! This issue is dedicated to Moozie and to all the people and products that help keep him going strong. We are so grateful! We hope some of the ideas in this issue can help you and your dog. Let's work together to give them the best life possible! Your Vital Vet Partners

HELP THEM WALK

These mobility aids help Moozie get around better

We love this harness for Moozie! It's ultralight with a wide panel for better trunk support. It has 3 handle options, is strong and pliable so it conforms well, and is super comfortable. The harness is applied without having the pet step into it. Dogs with mobility problems have trouble lifting their leg so this harness is an ideal choice for them.

This is Moozie in his indoor harness. Since Moozie needs to wear a harness all day, we wanted something that was soft and comfortable. This thick, fleece harness is perfect - comfortable enough to be worn all day and supportive enough for short walks and pee breaks.

With increased weakness, Moozie started "fishtailing"- his hind end wobbled from side to side. A back brace kept his spine straight so that he could use his hind legs better.

This Wiggleless back brace helps support and stabilize the spine to improve comfort and mobility.

THERA-PAW Carpo-Flex-X

adjustable leg brace with moderate support

Moozie needed this brace when he sprained his wrist. We loved it because it was adjustable - we added more support when he was injured and reduced the support as he started to recover. We also lined the inside with foam padding to make it super comfy! This brace is great for dogs with:

Trying to walk Moozie in the snow. Hahahaha!!!

Christopher Reeve said "A hero is someone who finds strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles."  For us, Moozie is our hero! Check him out in this funny video!  I just wanted to take him out for a short pee break but Moozie had other ideas :-)
