Business Update
Personal Services, Movie Theaters, Wedding Ceremonies Permitted with Restrictions
The Ventura County Public Health Officer has issued new guidance permitting the reopening of additional businesses that were previously closed. Sectors that may reopen with modifications, social distancing protocols, and completion of the attestation process include, but are not limited to:

Personal Services : Nail salons, massage, skin care and cosmetology services, electrolysis, body art, tattoo parlors and piercing shops
  • Can open June 19, 2020
  • Facial massages, waxing, tattoos, makeup, piercings or electrolysis services may be performed so long as they can be done without the removal of the client’s mask
  • There is a 30-minute limitation on procedures and massages conducted in confined spaces
  • Personal services are required to follow the state guidance here
Movie Theaters
  • Must follow the state guidance here
  • Can open June 26, 2020
Wedding Ceremonies
  • Outdoor wedding ceremonies may be performed with up to 100 persons present who can be safely physically distanced or a lesser number up to what the venue can safely support
  • Indoor wedding ceremonies with 25% capacity or up to 100 people, whichever is less
  • No reception or party permitted
These sectors may be open only while adhering to social distancing protocols provided by the Governor and the Health Officer and after completing the County’s attestation process at www.vcreopens.com

Apply for Ventura County Business Assistance Grant Program, June 24-July 8
Small businesses and nonprofits in Ventura County with gross revenues of $25,000 to $2,000,000 are eligible to apply for the County of Ventura Business Assistance Grant Program from June 24, 2020 through July 8, 2020.

The grant funding is being provided to alleviate impacts from COVID-19, and will be awarded in two phases. During the first phase, Business Assistance Grants will be awarded in the amount of $5,000 to 1,000 recipients that meet the criteria.
Eligibility:
  • Ventura County business license/non-profit determination letter
  • Licensed on or prior to March 17, 2020
  • Financially impacted by COVID-19
  • Registered at VCReopens, if eligible
  • Gross revenue $25,000 - $2,000,000
  • Completion of application with financial documents and attestation

Due to the high volume of applications anticipated, awardees will be randomly selected based on the priorities and guidelines adopted by the County Board of Supervisors:

  • First 25% women & minority owned
  • Second 25% disadvantaged communities
  • Final 50% weighted by city/census population
  • Priority will be given to businesses that did not receive a SBA grant/loan

The program will have two rounds of funding at $5 million each, however applications for both rounds will only be accepted June 24-July 8, 2020.

State of California Now Requires Face Coverings in Public Spaces
The state announced today that starting June 18, all people in California must wear face coverings in public spaces - particularly indoors, or outdoors when distancing is not possible.

Cloth face coverings or masks help reduce the spread of coronavirus especially when combined with physical distancing and frequent hand washing.

SBA Reopens Economic Injury Disaster Loan Portal for All Eligible Applicants
The U.S. Small Business Administration reopened the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) and EIDL Advance program portal to all eligible applicants experiencing economic impacts due to COVID-19.
