This afternoon SB 266 (Perry) passed the Senate Commerce and Tourism Committee.
However, a late-filed amendment opposed by the League did not get the required 2/3 approval by the committee to consider the amendment.
This amendment would have weakened several provisions that would give cities tools to regulate home-based businesses to ensure they do not adversely impact their neighbors and their community.
The FLC remains neutral on SB 266.
Please thank Senator Bobby Powell for his efforts today and also Senators Jason Pizzo, Annette Taddeo and Victor Torres for voting "no" on introducing the late-filed amendment.
Thank you to all who contacted Senators in opposition to the late-filed amendment to SB 266.
We will keep you posted as this issue develops.
