Dear Englewood Community,

Earlier today, you received a joint communication from area superintendents about the difficult decision we have made to cancel in-person classes for the remainder of the school year. I, along with my colleagues, made this decision with the health and safety of our students and our community in mind.

I hope that this news helps ease some uncertainties you and your family might be facing as far as whether or not we will be returning to a “normal” school routine this spring. Remote learning at this stage is even more important as we want our students to finish the school year strong and to be able to start next year with all the knowledge necessary to succeed in their next steps.

Of course, while we continue remote learning for the duration of the school year, Grab and Go meals will still be available Monday through Friday to all children under the age of 18. Grab and Go meals are available for pick-up at Bishop and Cherrelyn Elementary Schools from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.

I know this is not how any of us hoped the end of the year would look. We may all need some time to process and even grieve the things we were looking forward to being a part of this spring. Some things will be canceled and some things will just happen in a different way.

That being said, I know that for high school seniors, graduation is a once in a lifetime opportunity and a virtual or remote ceremony would just not be the same. While I do not think that an in-person graduation ceremony will happen on the scheduled date, we are committed to making it happen possibly later in the summer. We will provide more information in the coming weeks about the plan and possible timing of our graduation ceremonies.

It has been so wonderful to see our community coming together to help each other and to see students and teachers jumping into remote learning. I am so proud of our Englewood Schools family and I know that, with help from each other, we will get through this and be stronger than ever.

Kind Regards,

Wendy Rubin, Ed.D.
