Dear Colleagues,

So much has happened during the last week, and the Saskatchewan Library Association is responding to the COVID-19 virus by taking preventative steps.

The annual Saskatchewan Libraries conference, scheduled to be held May 7 and 8 has been canceled due to the uncertainties faced by our communities regarding COVID-19. We regret any inconvenience this may cause our members and friends.

All of SLA's planned public programming has now either been completed or cancelled. The three remaining stops on the One Book, One Province tour will be rescheduled when it is safe to do so. In the meantime, the YouTube video of Candace Savage reading from A Geography of Blood can be viewed here.

Our staff members, Dorothea Warren, Anne Pennylegion and Marina Candeia, will be working more from home, but will still be responding to your emails and phone calls. Just a reminder of our contact numbers:

Dorothea Warren: slaexdir@sasktel.net (306) 780-9413
Anne Pennylegion: slaprograms@sasktel.net (306) 780-9409
Marina dos Santos Candeia: slaadmin@sasktel.net (306) 780-9413

We would also like to remind you of a few simple measures you can institute to help keep yourself and others safe:
  • Practice social distancing and limit personal contact.
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water.
  • Cough into your arm to avoid spreading germs.
  • Avoid touching your face.
  • Maintain safe food practices.
  • Stay home and self-isolate if you have any symptoms (fever, cough and shortness of breath). Call the HealthLine at 811, or your family doctor for advice.
Take care of yourselves. We're looking forward to seeing you at the 2021 conference. And say tuned for information about our upcoming AGM (Anual General Meeting).
