Graduations, Grants, Growth, and Gratitude

As we collectively celebrate the successes of our graduating students across Saginaw County, I wish to share an abundance of positive tidings regarding awards and initiatives realized throughout Saginaw ISD.  Within the last month, our multi-county partnership Math in the Mail program received a $10,000 grant to create more math kits for our early learners; Hartley Outdoor Education Center was awarded a $16,000 grant to begin the development of a new outdoor learning classroom; The Saginaw Career Complex’s annual golf fundraiser raised over $22,000 in support for local students, and; $1 million dollars in federal funds were awarded to Saginaw County and Genesee County Head Start programs!  Further, our partnered Great Lakes Early Bay College (GLBEC) was recognized as one of America’s top high schools by U.S. News and World Report, and Saginaw ISD hosted the 25th Annual Turnaround Achievement Awards Ceremony honoring 34 students from Saginaw County for their effort, perseverance, and commitment to turning their lives around.  I applaud our students, faculty, administration, and community for their collective dedication, drive, and vision throughout this turbulent pandemic school year to continue providing enhancing and life-changing opportunities for the students of Saginaw County.  I am extremely grateful for, and inspired by, the ardent efforts and exhibited leadership of our Saginaw ISD community to continually serve, innovate, and empower.

Yours in Education,
Jeffrey Collier, Superintendent
