Original: "习近平强调,中朝传统友谊历久弥坚,是双方共同的宝贵财富。"

Translation: "Xi Jinping stressed that the traditional and increasingly strong friendship between China and the DPRK is the common treasure of both parties" (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, PRC)

Rumors that Washington may change TECRO’s name have been met with wrath in Beijing. This 环球网 editorial, published yesterday, warns of severe consequences if Washington goes ahead with the name change. The proposed name change is from the "Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office" (TECRO) to the "Taiwan Representative Office."

The article states: "If the U.S. and the Taiwan island change the names... the Chinese mainland will have to take severe economic and military measures to combat the arrogance of the U.S. and the island of Taiwan. /如果美台操作改名... 大陆方面需要祭出严厉经济和军事措施,打击美台嚣张气焰。"

State of the Semiconductors
Kevin Xu at the Interconnected blog has analyzed and translated a speech delivered by Morris Chang last April on the history and future of TSMC and the semiconductor industry. Interconnected provides both Chinese and English versions, as well as the full video of original speech.

"Morris Chang is the founder and two-time CEO of TSMC, now 90-years-old and retired, and the audience of the speech was Taiwanese government officials and business leaders." According to Kevin Xu, this speech is worth reading to learn "*unfiltered* from one of the 'founding fathers' of semiconductors."
