With greater needs and learning loss due to the pandemic, the Watertown Unified, Lake Mills and Dodgeland School Districts received support to implement the BellXcel Summer Learning Program, which helps students develop reading, math and social emotional skills.

“Covid put our students in a situation where many experienced learning loss. Providing five weeks of academic summer support was an amazing way to keep our students engaged in learning and prepare them for the next school year,” said Kari Dean, Instructional Coach at WUSD.

A Health Equity Spark Grant supported Dodge County SHRM in holding a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Conference July 15. During an action-packed in-person event, attendees learned how to create more diverse, inclusive and equitable workplaces and organizations.

In a post-conference survey, when asked if they would attend again in the future, 78% said Yes and 22% said Maybe. Participants provided positive feedback on the organization of the conference and speakers, and reported being able to take away tips and tools for implementation.

With both receiving grant support from GWCHF, the Bread Basket partnered with the Watertown Park & Recreation Department Kart Park to bring food and fun to families this summer. Children can enjoy outdoor physical activity while families visit the pantry to select fresh food to bring home.
