Hi everyone,
It’s now been over three months since we started our renovation project, and while we still have a ways to go, the end feels like it’s in sight.
One of the most enjoyable parts of this renovation has been working with so many incredible local crafters and tradesmen. I want to share the names/companies of some of the people we’ve worked with so that the next time you are in the shop admiring some of their beautiful work you have a name and maybe a face to go with it.
As our general contractor, from steelwork to framing, these guys did so much for this project. On the sales floor, the highlights include our beautiful, hand-built checkout counter and the steel shelf wrap around the entire store.
- Steve Harmon –
Durango Floor Sanding and Refinishing
Steve managed to sand through 30+ years of dirt, spilled drinks, and scuff marks to unearth a new floor surface underneath it all. I think you will agree, it’s beautiful!

Curtis Toledo –
Toledo Construction
Curtis built the original wall bays, tongue and groove paneling and much more when Maria’s Bookshop first moved down the block to 960 Main Ave in the early 90’s. What a treat to have him back for more. The new shelves in the back rooms, the trim work throughout the store and the new archway are all his handiwork.
I wish I could list everyone here, but I’d be espousing thanks for far more words than I’m allowed to write.
Thank you for all your patience and support as we continue to make noise and dust in the back of the store!
