The Confirmation Pilgrimage will be October 9 from 8:00 AM to 2:45 PM.  The purpose of the pilgrimage is to share the history, art and architecture, heritage and faith of the Catholic church in Chicago.  We'll go to the Cathedral, the shrine of a saint and places important to the development of the city and the people who have made up our community of faith.

And, it is fun, too. (I promise.)

Many public schools are off that day, as it is Yom Kippur.  If your candidate's school is in session, I'll be glad to communicate with the principal. Over 25 years of leading this event, I've never had a principal say 'no' because it is such an enriching experience.

All students will need to bring this permission slip, as well as a packed lunch.  We'll provide snacks and drinks.

As we will be visiting churches, appropriate clothing is expected.  No shorts, no low cut tops, no ripped jeans, no 'slogan' t-shirts.

The Confirmation candidates in 2020, as well as those in 2021, will state their intention to prepare for the sacrament at a mass at 5:00 PM on Saturday, November 16 at St. Emily. They will also ask for the prayers of our local faith communities.

We have received word that Confirmation will be celebrated on Sunday, March 15 at 2:00 PM.  Bishop Rojas, our Vicar here in Vicariate I, will confirm our candidates.

Put these dates on your family calendar now!  You'll receive more information in the weeks and months to come, but you will have the time set aside.

• Pilgrimage - Wednesday, October 9 .  This is a day that many public school students have off due to the Jewish holidays.

• Enrollment mass - Saturday, November 16 at 5:00 PM.

• Retreat - Saturday, January 11 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This retreat is mandatory.
