A Note from Sarah
More than one day
Dear friends,
Easter is over at CVS – Easter cards have given way to Mother’s Day and graduation cards…Easter candy is 50% off…Easter baskets have been replaced with beach pails in the seasonal section. But Easter is not over for us! Easter is more than one day; it’s a whole season of celebration in the church. We’ve exchanged the simplicity and reflection of Lent for the joy and abundance of the fifty days of Easter. Our worship expresses the Easter season in several ways:
- In the church year, white is the color of joy, and so we use our white lectern and pulpit hangings, chalice veil, and stoles.
- The Paschal Candle is lit at each service through the Day of Pentecost (May 24th ). This is the tall candle by the baptismal font that is lit from the new fire at the Easter Vigil. Paschal means Passover, and so this candle helps us remember that Jesus passed over from death to life on that first Easter morning.
- Our hymns are full of alleluias, that expression of joyous praise that we do not say or sing during Lent.
- It is customary to omit the Confession of Sin during the Easter season, to emphasize Christ’s victory over sin and death at Easter.
- Our first reading is taken from the Book of Acts rather than the Hebrew scriptures. Acts takes us back to the early days of the church, when the first Christians began to gather regularly for worship and teaching, and to learn what it means to be a follower of Jesus.
I wish you the joy of Easter and the newness of life it offers.
May you know God’s peace today.
~ Sarah

Plant Sale May 16th
Our Annual Plant Sale will be on Saturday, May 16th this year. This is always a fun event and the fundraising committee is counting on you all to help make it happen.
If you would like to participate, please complete a Donation Sign-Up Form. Forms are available:
-
As an online fillable form found here
- As printed copies located at the back of the church
We would like to have all donations by May 9th to allow us time to sort, repot and buy supplemental plants as needed for the sale.
We would also like to have volunteers to help with set up, break down and sales on May 16th. Financial contributions towards the fundraiser are also appreciated. Please contact one of us or send an email at fundraising@gracechurchsalem.org if you are able to volunteer and we will sign you up.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to the committee for more information about making donations, how to contribute, or with any other questions you may have.
Thank you for your support.
- Peggy, Melissa, and Joanne
| We are excited to announce that Grace Church is now accepting gifts via Realm! | |
Realm is an online tool to help us keep more accurate and up to date stewardship records. This will be an alternative to the PayPal button on our website and automated bill pay options. If you pledged for 2026, you will soon receive an email invitation to login to your personal Realm account and create a password (if you don't see it please check your spam folder)
Should you choose to log in, we need your help to ensure our records are up to date. We did our best, but please double-check that your contact information looks correct. Additionally, please review your pledge information and giving history for accuracy. If you notice any discrepancies or have questions, please reach out to me at treasurer@gracechurchsalem.org
While we encourage you to try this new way of giving, don't worry all the old ways still work too! Thank you in advance for your patience as we learn this new tool together!
