SailFest Saturday -- a great day in NL!
The Hamebys: Steve, Susan, & Shiloh kept the museum open on SailFest Saturday -- it was free for over 200 visitors! Christina Corcoran & Sebastien Jean Michel brought the museum SHOP out onto the street. Here, below, is what we saw.

Connecticut children + one accompanying adult may visit the Custom House for FREE!
The New London Maritime Society was awarded a $2,500 grant from Connecticut Humanities to support our participation in the CT Summer at the Museum initiative. The program invites Connecticut children ages 18 and under plus one accompanying Connecticut resident adult to visit participating museums free of charge from July 1 through September 5, 2022.
Funding for the initiative is provided by the CT General Assembly, the with the support of Connecticut Humanities and the Department of Economic and Community Development, Office of the Arts, which also receives support from the federal ARPA.

$5 tickets for NL Youth & Parents to
Visit inside Harbor & Ledge Lights
This summer, the New London Maritime Society (NLMS) wants everyone back visiting inside the three historic beacons just off our shore, which are owned by NLMS. We've declared July & August 2022 Lighthouse Summer and are dedicating our efforts to increased public access and lighthouse preservation.
There will be weekend trips to both Harbor and Ledge lighthouses through July and August, and two trips to Race Rock on August 13 and 20 (sold out).
Special for New London residents, only, thanks to a grant from Veolia/New London Water Authority and a donation from Edward Chalé, boat tickets to explore inside Ledge Lighthouse and visits to New London Harbor Light are just $5 for New London school children (age 7 through 18) and their parents. ~ We also have a limited number of fully-sponsored tickets with no fee!

We give tours year-round!
Meet at the lighthouse, then climb 116 steps to the lantern room -- all the while learning the 262-year history of Harbor Light, one of the oldest lights in the country, and the tallest on Long Island Sound. The 1865 4th-order fresnel lens remains in the lantern room. Views at the top are spectacular!
Tours take 40 minutes. Everyone uses hand sanitizer and we all wear masks. Book a tour for up-to five people: click to sign up, or email to schedule a tour during the week.

Boat trips out to Ledge Light the next five weekends! We're bringing groups to visit inside the lighthouse. Trips take about 80 minutes. We're using the water taxi. Tickets are $50 adult, $35 for youth. Ledge lighthouse tours.

JIBBOOM CLUB
On July 19, the JIBBOOM CLUB presents diver Jay Kane, who will discuss the dive display at the Customs House. Much of that collection is on loan to the museum from Jay.
Jay Kane is a commercial diver and diving supervisor with forty years experience with underwater construction, ships husbandry and salvage operations. Jay has been working in the Northeast for State of CT, State of MA, Electric Boat Corp, General Dynamics, Amtrak and many water companies in the Northeast. Tuesday, July 26, 4 PM on Fishers Island
Museum Movie Premiere: The History of Race Rock Lighthouse
On Tuesday, July 26 at 4 PM, Fishers Island’s Ferguson Museum will host a Benefit Premier: The History of Race Rock Light. This event will be held at the Fishers Island Movie Theater with a reception immediately following and is a benefit to launch the New London Maritime Society’s restoration campaign for Race Rock Light.
This 45-minute video directed by Pierce Rafferty and Marisela La Grave chronicles the remarkable story of how a lighthouse came to be erected in 1878 on a dangerous submerged ledge amidst some of the most unpredictable and swiftest moving tides on the East Coast.
