MCPD Deputy Chief Tuttle

takes Oath of Office


Welcome Deputy Chief September Tuttle to the Morehead City Police Department! Deputy Chief Tuttle first joined MCPD in mid-December, and took her oath of office on Friday, January 5th.

Officers, Firefighter of the Year Named


At the end of 2023, three individuals were recognized for their contributions to Morehead City. In addition to plaques awarded to these individuals, they also received a financial gift from The Webb Foundation.


Left, Officer Nick Stallings with the Morehead City Police Department was named Officer of the Year and received the William "Bill" Condie Pride in Professionalism Award from the Morehead City Noon Rotary. He is seen standing next to Chief Bryan Dixon, who displays a plaque of previous award winners.


In the Morehead City Fire Department, Firefighter-Paramedic Samantha Hunnings was named Firefighter of the Year and Battalion Chief Brian Pasko was named Officer of the Year.

Parks and Recreation

2024 Memberships Now Available


Registration is open for all memberships through Morehead City Parks and Recreation! These memberships are open to both in-city and out of city residents and give you access to work out rooms, a variety of exercise classes and more.


Memberships run for the calendar year, no matter when they were purchased, so register soon to take advantage of the remaining 11 months of the year. It isn't too late to get started on your New Years Resolutions and start working toward a healthier version of yourself!

Memberships can be purchased in person at our Recreation Center at 1600 Fisher Street, using cash or check only. If you have any questions, call the Parks and Recreation Center at 252-726-5083, visit our website at moreheadcitync.org or drop by for a visit.

Affordable Housing Project to Begin Soon


Construction will begin this year on the first part of Elijah's Landing, a 168-unit affordable housing development that will be a great resource for Morehead City's housing needs.
