Complete the MoVal Sister City Program Survey

We want to hear from you! The City of Moreno Valley is inviting residents to participate in a community survey to provide feedback on the City’s Sister City Program, which will be open from January 5 through February 5

Moreno Valley’s Sister City relationship with San Juan de los Lagos, Jalisco, Mexico, was established in 1993.

The survey will help the City better understand community interest, priorities, and ideas for future engagement.

Like many community programs, the Sister City Program experienced reduced activity during the COVID-19 pandemic and has remained largely dormant. As the City considers reestablishing the program, perspectives from Moreno Valley residents are essential.

Click the button below to complete the survey and share your thoughts on the program’s value and opportunities for renewed connection.

Our Demo Garden Workshop is a Cut Above!

Join us for our first Community Demonstration Garden Monthly Workshop on Saturday, January 17, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Community Demonstration Garden, located at 14075 Frederick St., Moreno Valley.

Learn essential pruning techniques for trees, roses, and berries in a hands-on workshop designed to support sustainable gardening practices suitable for residential landscapes.

The Moreno Valley Community Demonstration Garden is a multi-use space designed to educate the community and equip them with the expertise to implement a garden or landscaping project of the ideal size, scope, and scale for their residential setting.

The Garden features a variety of elements that residents can replicate in their own homes by purchasing items at local retailers or online, including raised planter beds, tower/wall planters, vermiculture, composting equipment, seedling racks, fruit trees, and a pollinator’s perennial garden.

Visit moval.org/garden for more information, or call 951.413.3280.

Dust Off Those Hiking Boots!

Join fellow outdoor enthusiasts for a hike to Hidden Springs on Saturday, January 17, at 7:30 a.m. for Moreno Valley’s first “Hike to the Top” event of the year. Hikers will meet at Hidden Springs Park near the Hidden Springs Elementary School parking lot, located at 9675 Hidden Springs Drive.

With an “easy” trail rating, the Hidden Springs hike is 4.8 miles long, with smooth terrain, slow, gradual climbs, and elevation changes of 160 feet. Please note that there are no restrooms available on the hike, and strollers are not recommended due to some rolling hills along the trail.

For questions regarding this hike or any of our other trails and hiking events, contact the Conference and Recreation Center at 951.413.3280 or visit moval.gov/parks.

Pet of the Week: Franki

Our Pet of the Week is Franki, a male, two-year-old, brown and blue brindled American Bulldog mix.

Franki is a true dog lover's best friend. He is very affectionate, highly attentive, and as sweet as the day is long. A loving scratch on his head, and he's instantly your new best friend! He's good on a leash and loves to learn new tricks.

If you would like to make Franki, or any pet from the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter, part of your family, please call 951.413.3790 or visit moval.org/pets.

The Moreno Valley Animal Shelter is located at 14041 Elsworth Street in Moreno Valley.

Note: Our featured pets tend to get adopted very quickly when they are shared in our newsletter and on social media. If they have already been adopted when you inquire, please consider one of the other loving pets in the shelter who are also looking for their forever homes.
