Mayor, City Council Break Ground
for MoVal's Next Park

One of Moreno Valley's points of pride is its system of 32 beautiful neighborhood parks. This week, Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez and the City Council broke ground for the 33rd: Santiago Park, next to March Middle School. The nearly four-acre park, funded by housing developer fees, will feature fitness apparatus that can accommodate 84 different exercises. Check out this brief video!

FREE Mask Giveaway Includes Drive-thru Events

As part of the City's "We've Got You Covered" program to distribute 175,000 masks to help slow the spread of the virus, free masks are available at the following times and locations:
Mondays - Thursdays, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Drive-thru Distribution Events
Tuesday, Sept. 1, and Thursday, Sept. 3, 9 - 11 a.m. and 2 - 4 p.m.

“Clear the Shelters” Ends This Weekend,
So Find a Pet Today!

The “Clear the Shelters” deep-discount pet-adoption event ends August 31, so there’s still time to find the cat or dog who’s waiting just for you! Due to the virus, the Shelter is available by appointment only, so to see who’s currently waiting to be adopted, visit the City’s website at http://www.moval.org/resident_services/animal/petsearch.html. The Animal Shelter is also still offering free microchips while supplies last!
The Shelter can be reached Tuesday - Friday, 10:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., at 951-413-3790.

Senior Recreation Classes Available Online!

The Moreno Valley Senior Community Center hosts virtual programs weekly to keep seniors active and engaged. Weekly free classes include Fit after 50, Dancercise, Zumba, Senior Inner Fitness, and more!
Seniors (ages 50+) must have a Zoom account to participate and contact the Senior Center for class access codes. Staff, who can also help seniors create Zoom accounts, are available Monday – Thursday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at 951-413-3430.

Census 2020 Begins In-Person Follow-ups for Those Who Haven't Been Counted

Census takers will be knocking on your door soon if you haven't completed the 2020 Census yet. Census takers can be identified by a valid government ID badge with their photograph, a U.S. Department of Commerce watermark, and an expiration date on the badge. You can still complete the Census online, by phone or on paper by visiting www.census.gov. For more information, visit www.moval.org/census.
Important note: All personally identifiable information must be kept confidential by the Census Bureau and may NOT be shared with any other agency, law enforcement, immigration agents or landlords. The Census does NOT include a citizenship question.
