Mayor Welcomes New Emerging Leaders Council Members |

Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez is proud to announce the newest members of the Emerging Leaders Council, a group of young leaders who will focus on issues relating to Moreno Valley's youth.
The new members are Steven Serrano Yepez, Kassandra Morin, Mumtahina Tajrian, Ashley Beltran Munoz, Pooja Datir, Aashish Palikhey, Nathan Van Hoang, Faye Boado, and Danvy Nguyen. The excited new Council Members held their first meeting at the Teen SPOT on June 28.
The Council is made up of nine young people ages 14-20 with a desire and potential to make a difference in their community. The Emerging Leaders Council acts as a City Council liaison from MoVal's youth and will make recommendations on youth-related issues to the City Council.

Kicking it Motown in MoVal

What do Karate and Motown have in common?
They're both part of the MoVal Summer Series!
Thursday, July 8, from 6 pm to 8 pm, MoVal Rocks will host Motown Mix at the City's new Civic Center Amphitheater. Motown Mix is an eight-piece female-fronted cover band serving up classic 1960's Pop and Soul hits. For more information about Motown Mix, visit www.motownmix.com.
Friday, July 9, from 8 pm to 10 pm, Movies Movies will show The Karate Kid. This movie is a rare treat for kids who may not have seen the original iconic film. The Karate Kid follows Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), a teenager who receives both life and Karate lessons from Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita) to defend himself against school bullies. The Karate Kid is rated PG.

Fireworks Task Force Makes Record Busts |

You may have noticed a quieter 4th of July this year.
Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of Moreno Valley's Fireworks Taskforce, thousands of fireworks were confiscated, hundreds of citations were issued, and numerous arrests were made. However, their job is far from complete, and the Task Force will continue enforcement until illegal fireworks are no longer in the community. Remember, you can report illegal fireworks all year long at www.moval.org/fireworks.
Did you make it to the 4th of July FunFest?
The City of Moreno Valley reminds residents to leave the fireworks to the professionals. That's why this year's FunFest featured an exciting and safe fireworks show. Thousands of residents enjoyed the City's spectacular fireworks show as it lit up the Moreno Valley sky at this year's FunFest. Although the City of Moreno Valley could not host the FunFest at Mountain View Middle School/Morrison Park this year due to the School District's current COVID-19 regulations, the City's beautiful new Civic Center Amphitheater served as the perfect substitute. Residents from all over Moreno Valley came together to celebrate the 4th of July, and enjoy great live music, food, and entertainment. The consensus was Moreno Valley residents loved the Amphitheater and welcomed it as the new host of the FunFest and Fireworks Extravaganza.
Do you need to recover a lost pet frightened by fireworks?
The Moreno Valley Animal Shelter understands that most residents do not have sound reflective walls/ceilings and Animal Care Technicians to keep pets happy and safe as they do during the 4th of July holiday. Pets that may have gotten separated from their owners due to fireworks can still be picked up from the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter. If your pet is lost, the Animal Shelter recommends the following:
- Post lost announcements on social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Nextdoor.
- Post lost pet flyers and walk through your neighborhood looking for your pet and informing your neighbors.

Our Pet of the Week is Daisy. She is a Pointer Mix that just turned two. Daisy is a bit shy but very loving. She is a loyal dog who will never leave your side. Daisy cannot wait for that lucky day when she finds that perfect place to call home.
