Mayor Gutierrez Invites Residents to MoVal's Snow Day & Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony
In this edition of the Mayor's Minute, Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez invites you to the annual Snow Day and Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Moreno Valley Civic Center.

This year's Snow Day (Candyland Edition) will take place from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, December 4 at our brand-new Civic Center Amphitheater.

The Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place at 5:45 p.m. in front of Moreno Valley's incredible 30-foot-tall Tree at City Hall. The event will feature performances by the Canyon Springs High School Madrigals, as well as a special appearance from a certain someone from the North Pole.

Wristbands Still Available for Snow Day
If you missed the chance to buy your wristbands online for Saturday's Snow Day event, don't worry!

Wristbands will still be available at the event on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. at the Civic Center Amphitheater, located at 14075 Frederick Street. Wristbands are $5 for Moreno Valley residents, and $8 for non-residents.

Man Arrested for Arson on Edgemont
Elementary School Grounds
Moreno Valley firefighters continue to keep Moreno Valley safe, especially during the high fire season.

On Thursday November 25, at approximately 5:30 pm, CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department responded to an outside fire at Edgemont Elementary School. The fire burned natural vegetation on school property, and authorities determined it was set by an arsonist.

Two eyewitnesses to the fire provided the suspect's description, and he was found approximately 100 feet from the fire. The suspect was positively identified by the witnesses, and he was arrested and booked by CAL FIRE Officers for one count each of Arson to wildland and Arson during a State of Emergency.

MoVal Artists Invited to Display
Art in City Facilities
The City of Moreno Valley is currently accepting applications from local artists to display their artwork across City facilities in 2022 through an Art Loan program. 

In an effort to enhance the aesthetics of City facilities, family-friendly works of art are currently being accepted for placement in the Council Chamber, Library, and several other facilities. Local artists are invited to apply if they live or work in Moreno Valley.

The deadline for submittal is December 22, 2021. Art pieces will be on display from January through April 2022. Applications are available at www.moval.org/artloan.
