City to Host Skate Park Grand Opening at Community Park
Join the Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem and City Council at Community Park for the City's Skate Park Grand Opening Ceremony on May 29 at 5 pm!

Bring your skateboard to this free family-friendly event and experience everything this new park has to offer.

Moreno Valley's Skate Park Grand Opening Ceremony activities will include:
  • Professional Skate demonstrations
  • Refreshments
  • Giveaways
  • Contests and prizes

Community Park's Skate Park will provide a dynamic venue to keep youth active and engaged after school hours and will serve the large and growing community of MoVal skaters of all ages.

The inspiration to build the Skate Park came in early 2018 when a grassroots effort began with a group of Moreno Valley skateboarders. Young people from various high schools circulated petitions and gathered hundreds of signatures supporting an additional skate park in Moreno Valley.

Event sponsors Active Ride Shop, and Spohn Ranch will be in attendance to provide giveaways and prizes that include skate decks, wheels, clothing, and much more.

Annual Tree Trimming Helps Keep Moreno Valley Beautiful
As part of the City’s urban forestry program, the City completed its annual tree trimming cycle throughout the Moreno Valley's many landscape maintenance districts.

This year, MoVal Crews working within the City’s special district areas trimmed over 2,600 trees and planted over 130 new trees. Community safety is a top priority, so City Crews also removed nearly 60 trees that could create potential hazards.

Maintenance services provided during the annual tree trimming cycles are funded by the property owners within the landscape maintenance districts and demonstrates the City’s commitment to Keep Moreno Valley Beautiful.  Material acquired from the tree trimmings and tree removals is recycled into renewable resources such as mulch, which can be used for additional landscape maintenance projects.

Beautification services such as this help to preserve the City’s Tree City USA Designation – a distinction that the City has held proudly since 2017.

For more information on the City’s urban forestry program or landscape maintenance district tree trimming, please contact the Public Works Department's Special Districts Division at (951) 413-3480, or visit the Special Districts website .
