Last week’s deadly natural-gas explosion in Murrieta could have been avoided had a contractor heeded the warning of “Call Before You Dig.” One person died and 14 others were injured when a gas line ruptured.
Because electrical, natural-gas, communications, sewer and other utility lines could be within a few feet of the surface,
both contractors and homeowners are required by state law to call “811”
for an Underground Service Alert (USA) at least two days before digging. USA will notify local utilities so they can identify where lines are located.
If you plan to dig,
PLEASE
take time to avoid tragedy by dialing 811 first.
