Cats and Kittens Who Endured "Long Ordeal"
Now Healthy and Ready for Adoption!
After enduring weeks and even months of neglect in the home of a suspected cat hoarder, 16 cats and kittens rescued in July are finally healthy again and ready for adoption.

"These cats and kittens were denied the care and love they deserve, and it's time they found responsible and gentle human companions," said Moreno Valley Animal Shelter Director Steve Fries. "We're hoping the public steps forward to finally end their long ordeal."

The Animal Shelter makes it inexpensive and easy to adopt cats and kittens with frequent special events, such as this month's Feline Adoption Frenzy, offering adoption fees, neuter/spay surgery and a HomeAgain microchip all for just $15 each Tues., Wed. and Thurs.

Ridiculously Hot Weather Coming:
Some Common-Sense Tips
Our rolling summer heat wave is ready to crash down on us again this weekend, with temps expected to hit 100+. Here are a few common-sense tips that might help you "weather the weather" at least a little more comfortably, and a lot more safely.

  • It's WAY too hot for strenuous activity! Just accept the heat defeat and take it easy.
  • Stay out of the sun: Seems obvious, but we get used to being out in it every day.
  • Dizziness, headache, cramps, etc., are all heat-exhaustion warning signs: Take them seriously.
  • Cool your home naturally: Open windows at night, if you feel safe, and close them during the day.
  • Close curtains or blinds before the sun comes streaming through.

MoVal residents can also take refuge from 100-degree temperatures at our "Cooling Center" located at the Moreno Valley Senior Center, 25075 Fir Ave. , Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
