Stand Up and be Counted, MoVal!
2020 Census is Coming
|
|
The federal Census is conducted just once every 10 years, and it determines how much federal funding communities receive for vital public services including public safety, schools, and social programs. So it's very important for MoVal to get an accurate count in the 2020 Census, set for the month of April. To help make that happen, the City has created a
special Census web page
to provide information in English and Spanish, including in the form of videos featuring Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez.
Important note:
T
he Census does
not
include a citizenship question and, by federal law, the U.S. Census Bureau must keep all collected information strictly confidential and may not share it with any other government agency, law enforcement, immigration officials or landlords.

MoVal Wins Awards for
Outstanding City Budget
|
|
Not only is the City of Moreno Valley's current budget the
8th consecutive City spending plan to be balanced
, but it's also winning awards for excellence.
The City recently claimed the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association, and the Operating Budget Excellence Award from the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers. MoVal's budget writers had to satisfy guidelines for how well the budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.
"We are very proud of the award-winning work done by our Financial & Management Services team," said Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley. "They created a budget that's more than just numbers on a ledger; it's one of our guiding documents and it's understandable to a non-finance audience. I'm also proud that we have been able to produce a balanced budget for eight consecutive years."
