Summer at City Hall Program Featured in Western City Magazine

Western City Magazine featured the City of Moreno Valley's Summer at City Hall internship program in its August issue, detailing the program that provides high school students with the opportunity to intern at the City while learning valuable workplace and life skills.

Summer at City Hall was brought to Moreno Valley in 2016 by Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez. The City partners with Val Verde Unified School District to provide students with classroom instruction as well as internships with City staff.

High School senior Erika Ruiz credited the Summer at City Hall program with helping choose her college path.

"The Summer at City Hall experience helped me understand the different city divisions, their roles and the significant impact they have on the community," Ruiz told Western City magazine. "I really enjoyed my time with the Economic Development Department. After interning there, I am interested in studying urban development at UC Berkeley next fall."

Pigeon Pass Road Reopens on Schedule

Pigeon Pass Road north of Old Lake Road reopened to traffic on schedule this week after being closed for several months due to construction.

Lennar Homes committed to complete the work during the school summer break, and successfully reopened the road the day before school started.

The project is part of continuing development of the Meadow Creek Community. The construction included the installation of a large culvert, relocation of a large waterline, construction of curb and gutter, new pavement in the northbound lanes and over the culvert, signing and striping.

A sidewalk will be constructed on the east side of the roadway and landscaping will be installed along the project frontage in the near future.  Pigeon Pass will remain open with temporary lane closures while these items are completed.

We appreciate your patience.  If you have any questions or comments regarding this project, please contact the City of Moreno Valley Land Development Division at 951.413.3120.
