Happy New Year from the Executive Board
of Morgan State University New Jersey Chapter
As we move forward into the new year, we want to highlight and express our gratitude for your support and dedication to Morgan State University and our chapter specifically. Your contributions, whether big or small, play an integral part in strengthening the legacy of MSU’s future generations.
We are gearing up for this year to be another level of commitment and success in accomplishing our mission. One of our proudest accomplishments thus far is establishing a Chapter Associate Membership level. This level of membership is for non-Alumni members who believe in our vision and mission and are willing to actively support the chapter. Other goals and initiatives are in place to modify and expand our website and digital footprint; increase scholarship opportunities; expand our community reach and to meet the needs of current students. In addition, fundraising/sponsorship, and collaboration & partnership continue as fundamental to the chapter's mission.
Together, let’s make this year the best year for our students and communities. We encourage you to be more intentional and get involved by joining the chapter, using your skill sets, volunteering, participating in upcoming events, donating and/or becoming a sponsor. We look forward to bringing you more success stories.
Thank you for being a vital part of the Morgan State University Alumni Association New Jersey Chapter membership. May this new year bring you well-being, joy, and fulfillment.

The Class of 2024 is officially in the history books (next up is the Class of 2025). Glowing faces decorated the arena, and joy filled the atmosphere as more than 450 bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral candidates received degrees during the ceremony, beginning their next chapter as graduates of Maryland’s Preeminent Public Urban Research University, the third-largest historically Black institution in the nation.
Ed Gainey, mayor of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and a member of Morgan’s Class of 1994 gave an impassioned Commencement address, urging the candidates in the nearly full venue to seek continual growth in pursuit of their purpose.
Congrats to all of the new graduates!
