President's Corner

Good morning, Seven Pearls Family!

I am so excited about the direction the Foundation is going and our continued progress as we honor the legacy of our Founders.

Later this month, we will celebrate our 20th Anniversary and the burning of the mortgage of the headquarters building. In 2004, the Grand Chapter gave us a mandate to protect, maintain and purchase the property serving as headquarters to both organizations. For twenty years, we have honored this mandate and worked diligently to pay off the mortgage. This is worth celebrating! If you haven't seen this beautiful property, now is the time as we would love to welcome you home!

As we "Unlock our Legacy" together with our new Founder inspired initiatives, it is imperative we recognize our common goal and that is keeping the vision and mission of our Seven Pearls alive for future generations to come!

In Harmonious Sisterhood,

Linette Y. Caroselli

President/CEO of Seven Pearls Foundation, Inc.

Happy 7th!

On the seventh of each month, the Seven Pearls Foundation will spotlight and award an individual, group or chapter that embodies the grand legacy of our seven illustrious Founders.

Crowning Efforts with Success Award

Life Member Shella Burch Cherry is the Foundation's Crowning Efforts with Success Award for June!

Soror Shella Cherry is a Ruby/Life Member currently serving as the Director of Student Leadership and Extracurricular Activities for Montgomery County Public Schools in Rockville, Maryland where she leads 4 pillars of work for the school system: districtwide student leadership programs, student service learning, non-athletic extracurricular activities, and parent/community volunteers. Her current work is to increase student engagement (academic success and attendance) through leadership, service, and extracurriculars, especially the most marginalized and underserved student populations. She has previously served the school district as a social studies teacher, a 2-sport varsity coach, step team coach, student government association advisor, assistant principal, and district coordinator.

Life Member Cherry just celebrated her 30th anniversary in Sigma! She became a member of the sorority in the Spring of 1995 through the Lambda Iota Chapter at James Madison University (Harrisonburg, VA) where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Geography with a minor and teacher certification in Secondary Education. She earned her Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction - Secondary Social Studies at Old Dominion University and her Administrative and Supervision Certificate from Hood College. Additionally, she holds an Administrative II License in the State of Maryland having passed the School Leaders Licensure Assessment. However, her work does not end there!

After graduation, Life Member Cherry served in the Phi Sigma Chapter supporting the chartering of the Omicron Phi Chapter (American University) and supporting the rechartering of the Theta Lambda Chapter (University of Virginia), the Lambda Iota Chapter (James Madison University), and the Beta Chapter (University of the District of Columbia) where she served as a co-advisor. As a member of the Eta Theta Sigma Chapter she has served as the Sergeant at Arms and has chaired several sorority national programs.

It is our esteem honor to present Soror Shella Burch Cherry as this month's recipient of the Crowning Efforts with Success Award.

Join us in giving Soror Cherry her flowers!

Trends in Education & Leadership

Expanding Community Partnerships

Education thrives on collaboration, and as we look towards the immediate future, it becomes increasingly clear that strong community partnerships will be the cornerstone of success for our educational institutions. Imagine schools and colleges working hand-in-hand with businesses, nonprofits, and government organizations to create vibrant, real-world learning experiences that not only enrich students' education but also expand their access to invaluable resources. Leaders in education have a golden opportunity to actively pursue internships, mentorship programs, and community service initiatives that seamlessly bridge the gap between classroom learning and the workforce. By fostering these meaningful relationships, institutions can significantly enhance student preparedness for future careers while simultaneously tapping into the wealth of expertise and support offered by external partners. Together, we can build a brighter future for our students and communities! So, let’s unite our efforts and join the Seven Pearls Foundation in transforming education through impactful collaborations. Together we can empower the next generation creating real-world learning experiences for students and expanding resource access.

Programs such as the Foundation's, In Front of the Class, allow various collaborations to take place for the benefit of students and teachers. Leaders must actively seek opportunities for internships, mentorship programs and community service initiatives that bridge the gap between education and the workforce. Through cultivating these relationships, the Foundation seeks to partner with institutions to boost student preparedness for future careers while also benefiting from the expertise and resources provided by external partners.
