I began my career by making all sorts of leather items – sandals, boots, belts and even a wedding dress! Eventually, I settled on bags. I construct every one of my pieces by hand and that’s significant. I do all my own cutting, painting, embossing, stamping, printing and stitching. There are really just 3 to 4 of us in Wisconsin who take the time to hand-craft leather bags.
Right now, I’m making a botanical series that has an Asian influence so that’s my favorite.
I taught Ashtanga yoga for 20 years. I traveled to India and spent 6 months studying under Swami Gitananda. That’s how I’m able to keep my mind, body and spirit strong and vibrant.
