Morning Meeting Recap


Thank you to everyone who joined us after the holiday weekend for September’s Morning Meeting. We welcomed many community members, business owners, partners, and new faces to share updates and connect.


Special Presentation – Sharp HealthCare

Ryan Purdy, Regional Director of Community Relations, provided an update on Sharp’s potential partnership with Tri-City Hospital. He shared background on the process, next steps toward an agreement, and the importance of community input leading up to a 2026 public vote. Topics included:


  • Maternity services and community-based hospital models
  • Sharp’s approach to behavioral health care
  • Plans for service expansion and investment if the agreement moves forward

MainStreet Announcements


Taste of Oceanside returns October 3 & 4. Tickets are now available! The Friday VIP Party at Mission Pacific will feature Chef Roberto Alcocer and guest chefs. The Saturday tasting event is one of MainStreet’s biggest fundraisers – your ticket supports downtown programs.

MainStreet Committee & Project Updates


Under the Art that Excites program, five artists are transforming the NCTD pedestrian tunnel into a vibrant space. The project is 50% complete and expected to be unveiled by the end of September. A community unveiling party will follow.


The Economic Vitality Committee identified over 12 priority locations for beautification and activation. The Vacant to Vibrant efforts will be combined with improvements to wayfinding and parking signage, pointing people to "food, fun, and free parking."


A recent report shows a 21% decrease in crime downtown over the past five years. MainStreet, OPD, Gatekeepers, and Measure X funding continue to improve safety and outreach. Clean & Safe initiatives, graffiti removal, and power washing remain priorities for the Downtown Oceanside Property and Business Improvement District Governing Committee.


The Downtown Ambassador program concluded last weekend. This summer, our Ambassadors assisted more than 2,000 visitors.

"Surf-tember" & October Events


The Oceanside Museum of Art and the California Surf Museum have teamed up on a new exhibit, and an annual fundraiser t-shirt is available for purchase at the Visit Oceanside Welcome Center.


The Plein Air Festival takes place this month from September 6 to 13, with student scholarships sponsored by MainStreet Oceanside.


Super Girl Surf Festival returns September 19–21 at the pier.


The Día de los Muertos Festival will be held on October 26 in downtown at Civic Center and Pier View Way.


A new partnership between Visit Oceanside and Frontwave Arena brings Sports Illustrated Women's Games to Oceanside from October 28 to November 2 for six nights of international, Olympic-level competition. Athletes and their families will stay downtown, providing opportunities for businesses to connect with them.

Community Announcements


  • The last First Friday Art Walk of the season is Friday, September 5, from 5-8 p.m. with a closing concert at the Oceanside Library Community Rooms.
  • Oceanside Theatre Company's production of "Spring Awakening" premiered at The Brooks last weekend and runs through September 14. The OTC Gala will be at the Senior Center on September 21. The youth programs are kicking off, and they are holding auditions for "Once Upon a Mattress."
  • Brother Benno’s annual Golf Tournament fundraiser at Goat Hill is September 9, and their new climate-controlled indoor market is opening September 10.
  • Oceanside Pacific Kiwanis meets at 7:15 a.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays at the Broken Yolk.
  • The Goodwill Oceanside Employment Center will hold a job fair on September 25 at One Safe Place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Deputy Mayor Eric Joyce shared that several projects will be presented to City Council in September and October, including tenant protections, the Oceanside Transit Center redevelopment project, and the Regal Plaza redevelopment project.
