Morning of Service

You are still needed Saturday, August 29th, to serve our Preschool and Childcare Ministry.

Hello Men, we are going to change some things up for this upcoming Saturday due to a funeral and issues with getting rubber mulch in time. So, we are going to remove the playset in the area, as it will be replaced, and we will clean up the area by the air conditioners and move some of the pea gravel back to that area, but we will not do the move of pea gravel out of that area. We will schedule another date to move the pea gravel out and move the new rubber mulch in. When we schedule that we will do the lunch meal. We will have donuts, coffee, and juice. If you signed up, we really would like you to join us on Saturday. Thanks.

New Treatments for Fighting Cancer in Peoria

Please join us on Thursday, September 10th, at 11:30 a.m. in Miller Hall for an informative presentation. Ryan Luginbuhl, Vice President of the Oncology service line at OSF HealthCare, is our first presenter for the Sixty Plus Fall schedule. Mr. Luginbuhl will be sharing the development of the Breakthrough Treatment Center, which now provides the region access to the world’s cutting edge in new cancer treatment options and early detection capabilities through the lens of clinical research. For example, Proton Beam Therapy is usually 14-21 straight days of treatment. Before the Cancer Institute, this required a patient to either travel each day to and from Chicago or St Louis or stay in a hotel which adds significant costs and inconvenience to patients and their families. 

​Lunch will be Italian beef sandwiches prepared by Steve Holcomb and drinks for $5.00 per person. If your last name begins with A-K, please bring a dessert to share. RightNow Media Series

RightNow Media is a wonderful resource available to our members offering a wide range of topics. Every month we plan to suggest a video series and provide a guide for individual learning and reflection. 

Our September recommendation is: Essential of Faith: Series 1 - What is a Christian?

RightNow Media gives us a way to grow in faith, to be encouraged and equipped to make disciples, and to become more like Christ. Please join us on a disciple-making journey called Essentials of Faith. This discipleship journey is great for new Christians as well as people who have been around the church for a long time but may need to be reintroduced to the foundations of the faith. There is an attached study guide that will bless those who use it. 

Ask any group what the building blocks of the Christian faith are, and we will hear different answers. But what unifies us? What are the basic beliefs of our faith that every Christian affirms? In this six-session series, Francis Chan will lead us in an exploration of the foundation that is common to all Christians through the centuries and answer important questions such as: Who is God? What makes humans unique? What went wrong? Who is Jesus? Who is the Spirit? And, What is a Christian? Our answers to these questions unite us around Holy Scriptures truths about our Faithful Holy God, who we worship and our relationship with him.

Children's Pew Bags

Redeemer provides pew activity bags each Sunday for our youngest children. These bags include quiet activities that help keep little hands busy while children listen and participate during worship. The bags need to be reset and refreshed each week, and we are looking for volunteers to help clear them out and prepare them for the following Sunday. This task usually takes about 30–45 minutes and can be done during weekday office hours.

If you are willing to help, please contact Jennifer Anders at jennifer.anders@redeemerlutheran.com. If multiple volunteers are available, each person may only be needed once or twice a month.

Pastor Appreciation Breakfast

The Fruit of the Spirit ~ Galatians 5:22-23 is the theme for the Pastor Appreciation Breakfast planned for 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 18th, during the Sunday School hour in Redeemer's Life Center. 

Lisa Mack is asking to borrow ceramic, glass, wooden or plastic fruit for table decorations. Instead of purchasing artificial fruit, do you have any she could use?

A Dollar for Missions

The Central Illinois District encourages church members to contribute one dollar per week to missions. So far this year projects have incldued: Central Illinois Deaf Outreach, Travel costs for Rev. Pablo Dominguez - Hispanic Ministries in Beardstown, new lighting for the Lutheran Center at ISU, library resources for the Lutheran Center at EIU, and new flooring the the Lutheran Center at ISU. Current funding is going to Central Illinois Deaf Outreach. Please consider dropping a dollar into the small plastic box at the Welcome Desk each time you attend worship. Collecting at little goes a long way.

Camp Cilca Whipoorwill Challenge

Festival Women's Choir

The Festival Choir Women’s Chorus will be starting rehearsals on Thursday, September 10th at 7:00 p.m. in the choir room. We would loves to welcome more singers! Please consider being part of this ministry. We sing at the 8:15 Festival worship and special Fesitval services throughout the year. End of Summer All Youth Party

On Sunday, August 30th, all Jr High and Sr High students are welcome to kick off the school year together! We will meet at the pavilion for an evening of games, fellowship, and food. We will start at 5:00 p.m. with dinner cooked over the fire, and as the sun sets, we’ll break out the s’mores before wrapping up with devotion time together. We will conclude at 8:00 p.m.

Bring a friend, bring your appetite, and come ready to relax and have fun. I hope to see you there!

50+ August Get-Together

Join the 50+ group for a night of music and fellowship! On Saturday, August 29th, we will be meeting at the Mackinaw Valley Vinyard at 6:00 p.m. to enjoy appetizers, snacks, and desserts while listening to the live band Decade of Decadence. The cost is $5.00 at the entrance to the parking lot. No outside beverages are allowed in, but water, soft drinks, juice, and wine/beer are available for purchase. Outside food IS allowed in, and we are asking each family to bring an appetizer, snack, or dessert to share. We have seating reserved on the outside balcony so no chairs or blankets are needed. Uncommon Guide to Retirement

Getting close to retirement…or already retired? Wondering what you will do with ALL the FREE TIME? What if you want more from retirement? Come join Jeff Shoumaker and Gail Williamson as they read through this interesting book by Jeff Haanen. This hour-long book study/discussion group will meet again on September 2nd at 6:00 p.m. in the main conference room.

Concordia Wednesday Friends Program

Concordia Lutheran school will begin its  Wednesday Friends Program on September 2nd. This program invites volunteers to come to the school starting 10:15 to help students. You will be volunteering to listen to young students read or help with math. Concordia Positions  

Concordia Lutheran School in Peoria, IL is seeking candidates for the following positions for the 2026-2027 school year:

Jr. High (6th, 7th, and 8th grade) Teacher

Duties: Subject area instruction in Language, Literature, Science, and/or PE. Expectations also include participation in professional development opportunities, curriculum development, and various student supervision duties.

Qualifications: Classroom teacher candidates must have, at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree in education (or have completed an approved alternate path for state licensure) and a current teaching license (Illinois licenses preferred). All employees are expected to act in a manner that supports the Statement of Belief for the Lutheran Central School Association of Peoria, IL, and live in a manner that exemplifies the Concordia Lutheran School Christian Code of Conduct. 

Title 1 Academic Tutor

Duties: Work with individual students or small groups to target specific academic learning gaps. Create and deliver individualized learning plans and lessons based on student performance data. Maintain accurate records of student growth, behavior changes, and assessment results. Report observations and coordinate strategies with the principal and classroom teachers



Qualifications: Classroom teacher candidates must have, at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree in education (or have completed an approved alternate path for state licensure) and a current teaching license (Illinois licenses preferred). Special Note: This position is payrolled through Peoria Public District 150, by allotted Title I funds. Schedule is flexible, averaging 10-15 hours per week.
