Learn, Play, Connect
At Camp Magruder, North Oregon Coast

Yep, you read that right - the greatest adventure of the summer is now on Labor Day Weekend!! How
awesome is that?! Are you ready for some bright sun, warm sand, and cool surf? Want to learn more
about native culture, sample some important First Foods, and eat yummy homemade Huckleberry
Cobbler? Then it's time to register NOW for Huckleberry Family Camp 2019!

And - I have some exciting news - the fun won't end on Sunday! We get to stay Sunday night and
check out on Monday morning, September 2nd! So we get another day this year!

We will gather at Camp Magruder on Friday afternoon, August 30 th , for an amazing weekend of
storytelling, huckleberry picking, swimming, boating, taking a train ride, singing and storytelling at
nightly campfires - and there's also time for quiet walks on the beach, reading, visiting, and enjoying
Creation all around you.

More exciting news - I am delighted to let you all know that Duane Medicine Crow is Co-Dean this
year! If you have not had a chance to meet Duane, you are in for a rare treat. He is bringing his lodge, so
we will all have a chance to see what it's like inside. Maybe some storytelling will happen there, too!

You're invited to join in the fun! And help make the fun! To register, or if you have any questions, call
me (Co-Dean Beth Fleisher) at 503-984-4448, or email me at  Are finances a challenge right now, but you want to go?  Don't let that stop you! Camperships are available, so just let me know when you get in touch.
As a way of helping more people enjoy this amazing experience, we invite anyone who would like to contribute to the Huckleberry Family Camp Campership Fund to let us know! It's a wonderful way to be part of a life-changing experience for a family who could not otherwise go to camp. Use the contact info above to let us know and we'll help you make it happen! ~ Duane Medicine Crow and Beth Fleisher, Co-Deans, Huckleberry Family Camp

A "Moving" Update About Our Friend Lynne

We received a call in the office this week about a recent move from Silverton to Keizer for our Morningside friend, Lynne Barkley.  She is now living up in Keizer and would like to join us for worship again.

However, she is in need of a ride to and from her home up there.  If you are able to help out, please give us a call in the office.  If you aren't available every week, that's okay, too.  Just let us know.

Open Door Churches Young Adults August Schedule
T he Open Door Churches Young Adult Group is made up of college students and young professionals rangi ng in age from 18-29 who are exploring questions of faith together.

This past month the Open Door Church Young Adults have focused on the scriptures from our Boldly Stepping Out Sermon Series. Together we have spoken about the importance of community and ways that God has surprised us as we live in community with one another. We have also begun an Instagram account as we have noted young adults spend more time on Instagram than on Facebook. You can follow our Instagram - CLICK HERE to learn more about who our group is and what we are up to.

The Open Door Church Young Adult Group is going on retreat August 1-3 in Pacific City. During retreat, the young adults have asked to learn ways to engage their faith beyond Sunday morning worship, have inter-generational conversation, and how to set healthy boundaries. Please hold the young adults in prayer as they are on retreat.

The Open Door Young Adult group meets on Wednesday's from 7-8:30. During the summer, the young adults rotate locations. Please email Pastor Alyssa ( to get on our email list. Thank you for your continued prayers and support of the Open Door Young Adults.
