Silver Falls State Park - North Hall

It's time, once again, for our Morningside Annual Retreat Day.  Back by popular demand... we will enjoy our day at the North Falls Meeting Hall at Silver Falls State Park.

We will begin our Church Retreat Day with singing and communion at 10:30 AM followed by a Potluck Brunch at the North Falls Meeting Hall. The afternoon will be the time to enjoy activities - from table games (inside the meeting hall) to outdoor games to kayaking and hiking. There's something for everyone!

We will end the day with a yummy BBQ dinner.

We have reserved the North Falls Meeting Hall which is close to a playground, Nature Play Area and link to the Trail of 10 Falls. The parking and meeting hall are accessible and available for all to enjoy.

Come for Worship and Brunch or for the whole day. Invite your family, friends and neighbors.

2019 Vacation Bible School
Monday, August 12th through
Thursday, August 15th, 9:00 AM to Noon
Morningside United Methodist Church

Open Door Churches Vacation Bible School (VBS) is happening again this year and we are excited to be hosting it here at Morningside.

All kids from age 4 to 5th grade graduates are invited to four days of fun-filled adventure, faith exploration and discovery and making new friends. Each day as they sing, craft, snack and use their imaginations, the kids will learn more about themselves and what makes each and everyone unique, special and, yet, the same!

Online registration is encouraged this year (if possible) but paper registration forms will be available soon, if needed.  CLICK HERE  for a link to the online registration website.

Volunteers are still needed, too! If you have a heart for kids and want to help make sure our kids have a fun and meaningful VBS experience this summer, let Christopher know you are available ASAP!

Sunday of Service Thank-Yous

Thanks to EVERYONE organized and planned and to those who volunteered for a wonderful Sunday of Service last month.  It was a huge success, much was accomplished and God's love was spread to so many!  Here are just a few notes of thanks to share:

From Joy Wilhite:
Blessed are the Givers and Grateful are the Receivers.  Thanks so much!
The flowers were beautiful and still are!  I was so proud to say they are from "My Church!"  - Joy

From Nancy O'Loughlin:
They [the volunteers who worked on Nancy's yard] were incredible.  They pruned trees and bushes, cut down a tree, pruned the rose bushes and rhododendron and planted flowers.  Two loads of cuttings went to the dump.  Frederick and Aeson even tried to find the cordless phone I accidentally dropped in my Koi pond.  But the failure wasn't due to lack of trying.

The yard is much more open and I can now see my whole backyard.  It is fantastic.  What a crew!!!  Many, many thanks to all of them.  Lorie Long, Phil Wiseman, Eve Johnson, Alex Hecocta, Lori Alton, Ken Amend, Fred Cooper, Audon Pargas and his friend Juan.  I just hope they didn't over due it!  What a wonderful church family!!!! - Nancy

From Karna Johnson:
Many of you helped with making and delivering the flower bouquets [on Sunday of Service] to our hound-bound, not to mention the tons of flowers everyone brought to contribute.  To my knowledge, at lease 12 were delivered to people, another 3-4 were taken home with someone who was here on Sunday and another 6 were given to nursing/retirement/memory care homes in the area.

Considering I had never done that before, I was very grateful and proud of our work.  A big shout-out to Nancy Johnson, Beth Fleisher, Brigitte Rolph and others I have probably forgotten who are not on our team but were such a big help.

If you helped in any way with this service project, consider yourself gratefully patted on the back. - Karna
